It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's the Superman Costume Thread! - Part 3

the suit looked stunning and absolutely beautiful in motion.

I already loved it enough just from still photos but after seeing the film twice I can see even more it is most DEFINITELY my favorite comic book related film costume ever made.

Were there two version of the suit?
In the scene where Zod shows Superman a picture of a lifeless Earth covered in skulls, the shield is gray and black, not red and blue, and there seems to be more silver piping around his collar.

Yep, that is well established. The art book makes it clear that he does indeed wear a black suit there.

Just looked like a black version of the suit to me.

Quick comparison.

The new suit is total awesomeness but i wonder if the boots have the logo by the heel i couldnt get a glimpse if it had it. If anyone remembers in SR when superman was in the hospital there was a shot when the suit was in the chair and they show the back of the boots to the camera and you can see the S logo it would be so cool if the mos boots had them just saying.

I've always thought it was way too long. There was dirt all along the bottom when Faora took him and Lois from the desert.
Not hating. I just honestly can't remember that being suggested. And I can see your point.

I thought the suit came out better than I ever dreamed.
If only it was even tighter. :cwink:

Hello everyone.

Dedicated to all Superman Fans who love the Old Costume and will love it forever.

¡ hasta la próxima !

I consider myself an old-school superfan, but I must admit I'm recognizing the classic suit less and less as months and years go by. It looks strange to me now compared to the modern inderpretations:csad:

We've argued over the lack of red/yellow, trunks, etc, but the cape was the best part of the whole ensemble I thought.

I really, really love the cape and shield. Both are close to perfect imo.

I just don't like it dragging on the floor as it seems to do sometimes. I don't think even Nolanbat's cape was that long and Batman's the character who usually has a longer cape.

Did they ever give an actual explanation about his costume in the film? I remember Goyer saying there would be some sort of explanation, but I don't remember any in the film.

No. Actually I wish to see when the suit is first revealed... it's still in the making... we will see drones sewing it acccording to clark's physique.

Nope. Unless Goyer's explanation is that a suit for a male member of the family of El just happened to be on that ship.

That is the first time I have ever heard that suggested.
There have been a few people here that have wished for a foot or so off the cape...including me. I love how regal it looks, but if the cape is just hanging and not flowing it makes his silhouette look less impressive.

yeah, that was one thing i didnt like... the reveal of the suit. not gonna get into it, but they could of done a better job with it

how about it was costum-made? the ship has that technique, right?

Suit was borderline perfect, especially in the sequence with Ma Kent after the destruction of downtown Smallville. And that cape...that cape.

Jor El designed the scout ships. So I figured the suits in there would have his symbol since it means hope and that's what you want with scout ships, hope

anyone think we will get a redesigned suit in future films??? Something easier to put on and take off for HC...when a guy has to pee a guy has to pee!!
