i thought the cape look regal and awesome enough. if the cape draping over his shoulders, then we can't see his broad shoulders and frame.

I agree there is no need to change the cape it looked great possibly the best ever.

I'm hoping they show the cape looking more regal in sequels. Not redesigning it necessarily, but just showing it in a few different ways.
This is the first time they've actually managed to make something resembling the comics' cape attachment, and make it not look stupid, I'd love to see them draw even more from the comics use of the cape.

One in particular I'm hoping to see is the cape draping over his shoulder(s) like in this concept art:

Actually, that kind of design is better suited for Batman since the cape draping over his shoulders gives the feeling of him draping behind the shadows. And it fits with Batman's theme much better than Superman.

The way they handled Superman's cape clipping to the costume is very reminiscent of STAS, and I loved that subtlety, whether intentional or not.

I have to say. Till even the films release I wasn't the biggest fan of the suit. It wasn't that it was bad, I just couldn't stand the middle of the suit. No, not the removal of the trunks, but how they handled it after that. All of that being said, seeing the suit on film...it was great.

The suit really worked on screen. I did not miss the trunks at all. I do wish the blue was a tad brighter but it didn't come off as too muted.

Hey I wonder if this was done on purpose, the \S/ at the same time did and did not look like an "S". It at times looked quite alien and at other times like the human S, where other shows and movies had it look like a perfect S you were taught to draw in 1st grade.

I believe it was. At comic-con last year, one of the costume/design artists mentioned making the suit more alien, stands to reason that would carry over the the S, given it's origin/meaning in the film.

It's a pretty sexy looking S, too.

I watched Superman Returns last night. There are things the film does pretty well, but Superman's costume is certainly not one of them. I cannot understand how that thing got approved.

I've always had a problem with how the trunks worked, and I recall people saying Superman's cape looked like a shower curtain. Also MOS made me realize how off the red was in SRs costume.

Right ? It was a dark maroon. Suit looks much better with a vibrant red.

I thought it was because Snyder had an affinity for the 1940s shield (I can't remember if he said that or not), and frankly it looks quite similar to the 40s shield.

It's the exact shield that was used from Superman #9 for a few months, later adopted in the 50's to become Earth-Two Superman's shield.

One of the concept designers said it was one of the ones he was most familiar with and enjoyed drawing.

This will never happen, and I'm glad, but I have to question...

Is Cavill going to be in that same suit as Superman for the next two movies, or have some sort of update? And if so, where will that fashion change come from?

We don't know, obviously, but it's interesting to think about. Batman and Iron Man can change up suits quickly and plausibly enough, but anything earth-made for Superman would probably be a step down. The skin suit is from an advanced alien civilization.

Maybe he'll find a new, sleeker suit on Brainiac's ship, and slap the shield on the chest.

mostly it was about the color for me. i could of gone either way with the trunks, but if one cant get the color right, it's all meaningless. Singer got the entire traditional look down, but it didn't mean diddly-squat since it was so dull.

in the sequel, i do hope a little bit more color is put onto his sides, just to add some balance in color, but im okay with what they've done.

Yeah, I've been happy with the darker color, but when he was on the ship and the blue was so much brighter, I found myself missing the brighter blue.

i thought SR's shield was better. i was wrong. the MOS shield is one of the best \S/. even the t-shirt with that shield looks so good!
