Are his eyes brown in that picture? I was praising the other picture with bright blue eyes, which I was looking forward to.

It did bother me that you can't see they're blue. I have to assume they are blue but it just doesn't show on the poster. Since it is such a key feature, I would think they should have found a way to make them pop more.

Trank was probably still in the process of fixing them in post when he got sent home. :oldrazz:

so, i had some fun ...

i changed a bit more than just the brow...cause i think its not only the missing brow but also hiw face being a tad too wide and the nose should be higher...i also rounded the rocky overall shape abit

Wow, that would have been a lot better!:hmr:

Yeah, and not to belittle your or HUMANIMAL's talent, but it just shows that it could very easily be done right. In 2005, we had to take into account the limitations of make-up and appliances applied to a human face (remember our discussion of breathing tubes to accommodate the small nose :funny: ), but there are no such excuses with CGI.

UUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuugggghhhhhhh!
It looks like there is a pic of a promo full-size sculpt of the Thing to be displayed in theaters....google it. Wont let me post the link to a competitor's website. Thing is completely naked....looks so stupid.

He's completely naked. Just standing there, almost spread eagle. Amazing.

They're just inviting some hilarious person to slap a big ol' suction cup orange rubber dingle dangle on him.

So does he talk in Thing form or what?

Yeah, it looks really terrible.:csad: Also, like the concept art that first tipped us off that he'd be naked, it looks like he doesn't have any toes.

Would it have been so hard to just make him look like the Thing?

It does open up lots of opportunity for jokes about him "Getting his rocks off".

But yeah its not a good model, seems to be a lot lighter in colour that he is in the trailers too, but probably just down to the model production using the comic version for colour reference. Also the angle the photo is taken from makes it look like he only has three fingers, but that it probably just due to the angle.

I don't think that's a very good production model, it doesn't look much like the images from the trailer or the movie posters.

*Grabs popcorn whilst waiting for Tranks defenders to come up praises*

If they like what they see, they have every right to praise it.

It's a really dumb design choice, but I figure he'll be "clothed" in so damn much shadow I doubt we'll notice too much. I wonder if they'll talk about his lack of pants in the film, though.

That statue looks like Rocky from the old SNK game King of the Monsters.

Fox: Should we give him pants?
Effects guy: Well, CGI pants cost money. No pants, you have a reason to put half of him in shadows. The half that's in shadows, we don't have to animate.
Fox: Nix the pants!

It does look like the Thing. I'm unsure how it doesn't. Just because of the brow. I see toes too. 3 of them. They just aren't sticking out like toes do. Also this is just a cheap model in a cinema. What we've seen in trailers and posters to me anyway looks good. It would look better with some kind of clothing on. Pants or shorts but besides that I think he looks cool. Very intimidating.
