The Amazing Spider-Man J Jonah Jameson in the Reboot

no jjj in this movie doesn't bother me in the slightest.

if the lizard is indeed the villan

* they have to establish peter's relationship with conners
* they have to establish conner's relationship with his family
* they have to establish conner getting his arm back
* they have to establish the change to lizard
* they have to establish spidey's relationship with lizard v the police

that is a lot of character developement, you start throwing in other elements like the bugle and the above gets less screen time.
I like JJJ as a concept but he isn't needed for this movie.

I agree. Not a bad thing at all not having JJ in the film. No point throwing all the eggs in one basket.

We'll hear about the bugle, even have papers with his name on it. I'm sure if there is a sequel it may start with Parker going to the bugle for work.

honestly i think they pulled the character because they knew he couldn't be recast

There's not a doubt in my mind that he would work for the Daily Bugle in the sequel if he doesn't in this one.

Oh god yeah. It makes sense to see him develop in this film as spidey and THEN go to the bugle and take advantage of it.

Knowing how they're doing everything else, they'll probably try and make him more subtle instead of a constant rager.

hopefully there will be more back and forth between jonah and robbie.
hoffman? what was 'THAT' all about?

I think the lack of JJ will contribute to the unique character this movie needs. Feeling like more of the same from the last trilogy ain't what I want.

Like I said in the other thread, if you took out the three brief Jonah scenes from Spider-Man 1, the quality of the movie would not suffer at all. I don't think the reboot movie will suffer either from Jonah's absence.

What? NO Jonah in the reboot?!?

Oh well, as long as he's in the next movie, I'm happy.

I think this is a little nuts. It's like a Batman movie without Gordon. What's Peter do for money? Is that why he has the "hobo clothes":hehe:

I bet if this were a Raimi movie and they announced no JJ people here would be all hating on it. :D

Not really, because Batman can't operate in Gotham without catching the attention of Gordon. They form a working relationship to clean up Gotham, and an unspoken trust and friendship. He had to be there.

Jonah Jameson is merely a source of income in Peter's life. Peter's had several ways of making money beyond his work at the Bugle. There's no deep meaning in their relationship. Jameson in the Raimi movies was pure comic relief. Great as he was, he added no depth or substance to the story.

Yeah, but the whole thing of Peter having to sell pictures of Spider-Man for bad press just to make money is just a great touch to the story. Getting rid of him is just one less thing for us to feel sorry for Pete.
I can't believe they cast his damn parents in this movie and not a JJ.

You may not feel it, but I think Jameson is a big part of Spider-Man and what makes the character so great and responsible.

I have no problem in saving JJJ for later but he better be in the sequel.

And he should at least get a reference in this movie.

Maybe Peter simply has a job delivering the paper? Could give us a look at some of the headlines?

JJJ was the best part of SM3. Still, not having JJJ doesn't bother me too much. I want him there, but there are a lot of other things that are more important. They could just have peter make an income working for connors. Makes sense.

I think some thought needs to be had by fandom here. I honestly see them going the route of character growth in this film ala Batman Begins.

We can get Jameson in the next film. And again, he could very likely be in this one, but if not, use some foresight. The core is Peter Parker / Spider-Man. Incorporating MORE of Spider-Man's mythology will be a reward in upcoming films.

Think about it.

Also, I felt like we got the perfect JJJ in the last 3 movies. I don't want a repeat, I would rather them focus on other things that the previous 3 movies didn't have.
