The Amazing Spider-Man J Jonah Jameson in the Reboot

It makes sense, Peter doesn't really need a job when he's still in high school.

I can understand the idea if the filmmakers don't want to remind the audience of J.K. Simmons' excellent portrayal so soon and want to have a slow development for the reboot films, but at the same time it just doesn't feel like Spider-Man without Jameson. I guess by having Captain Stacy be so prominent, the film is going for something along the lines of Batman and Gordon with Spidey and Stacy, maybe capitalizing on Christopher Nolan's Batman films. Not to mention, the lack of Jonah appears to conform to a supposedly leaked synopsis of the film someone had put online several weeks ago.

JJ was great in Spider-man 1 & 2, but 3 was a little over the top, much like everything else in that movie. But I'm all for letting him sit out one movie since JK was such perfect casting.

^this.

to me, JJJ is such an integral part of Spidey's supporting cast, that it would be like a Superman movie without Perry White or Lois Lane, or a Batman movie without Alfred.

afterall, JJJ's push to print negative stories of Spidey is always one of the main reasons why Spidey gets a "bad rap" with the public/police, etc.

That's a staple of the Spidey story...........

JJJ doesn't have to have a huge amount of screen time, but to cut him out entirely...........well............

A reference or two to JJJ and his paper in this film will be fine enough by me as long as he appears in the sequel.

JJJ is nothing like Lois or Alfred. He's more like Perry White, and I couldn't care less about that character (JJJ rules, though).

I'm sure they didn't just wake up and say "Let's drop JJJ just because."

It seems like the Spidey/Peter-JJJ dynamic in this film is going to be replaced by the Spidey/Peter-Capt. Stacey dynamic. We're pretty sure Capt. Stacey dies by the end of the film, leaving that hole to be filled in the future films by JJJ.

And NO, I'm not saying their relationships are in any way the same except in the sense that it is Peter dealing with an older man who isn't a family member of his and isn't a villain.

I'm 100% sure that if this movie will be a success like it's most likely going to be, Jameson will be in the sequel

Or maybe they're afraid that the movie is going to loose it's gritty feel with Jameson being hilarious every time he's on the screen :O

"Time to take your medication! ...Not that one ...Not that one..."

I'm fine with no JJ in this if that means there is a good reason for it. He just better appear in the next one. It could be one of those things that could make the sequel better.

J.K. Simmons was the perfect JJJ. no one can ever replace him

The said has been said with Joker, Bond, Superman, Batman, among others....

Any actor can come in and do it just as good or better than their predecessor.

Batman still has Michael Keaton
Superman still has Christopher Reeves

Nicholson is rarely considered the best Joker

If they make him darker instead of humorous, I'm sure everyone's status would shift. Like make him TRULY hate Spidey.

One thing I hope to see is Jameson in a jam with Spidey. Similar to how the 90's cartoon did from time to time...once they had their wrists connected by a bomb, then the first ep with Ock they were in trouble at the same time.

I'd love to see them in a tight spot, grudgingly helping each other.

as much as i was hoping to see jameson in this film, the more i think about him not being in it the more i think its a cool idea. they seem to be trying to give this film a real different take and feel to it in every way and the fact that the bugle is present and peters in high school it makes me believe that jameson will be in the sequel. i mean yea we had gordon in batman begins but he wasnt commissioner gordon so the full character wasnt there just yet. the bugle is a character and im sure there will be some sort of print about spidey on papers but it leaves peter going to find his first job for the sequel instead of trying to do what raimis movies did and have so many characters in them it didnt allow room to breathe on individual characters.

i dont think osborn will be in this film either so maybe oscorp isnt present, maybe its another background business that will flourish in a sequel. heres hoping this will all be promising!

JJJ was the best part of SM3. Still, not having JJJ doesn't bother me too much. I want him there, but there are a lot of other things that are more important. They could just have peter make an income working for connors. Makes sense.

I DID laugh when he was on.. But seriously, like everything else in that movie, he was way over the top.

Well I guess they don't want direct comparisons to JK Simmons. And that is understandable. But it still seems...off to do a Spidey movie without old flat top. They need to at least talk about how The Daily Bugle is trashing Spidey in the film. Of course if that were the case, then why would Peter go to work for them after the fact? Seems like a strange decision, quite honestly.

I'll throw in a bigger mistake is leaving out the Osborns. Yeah, Norman an Harry dominated Raimi's movies, but to leave them out is to shoehorn them into one sequel. Introduce them in SM1 and then have Norman become GG leading to Gwen's death in one of the sequels happen naturally.

The only one of those 3 that is overwhelmingly recognized to be true is Reeves/Superman. The rest are up for debate. And 'in film' only Routh has even tried to take up the role so it's not as if we've had a string of guys who don't measure up. Just one guy and I don't think you can prove anything with something that small.
