The Amazing Spider-Man J Jonah Jameson in the Reboot

I'll throw in a bigger mistake is leaving out the Osborns. Yeah, Norman an Harry dominated Raimi's movies, but to leave them out is to shoehorn them into one sequel. Introduce them in SM1 and then have Norman become GG leading to Gwen's death in one of the sequels happen naturally.

I dunno, there was just so much Osborn in the Raimi movies that I'd rather they just be left out for now. I feel like audiences would just be like "What, these guys AGAIN?" There are plenty of other characters to explore.

You can't put every main character into one film. However, I'm not convince completely that JJJ isn't in the film, we do have pics of The Daily Bugle vans. If not, I do see him showing up in the sequel and beyond. Well, if the reboot doesn't get rebooted.

I'm pretty much convinced JJJ will not be seen until the sequel. I just hope it works out well.

I didn't say they had to have a big role. But you can plant the seeds. Such as having Harry in Peter's classes and maybe the spider-bite could have happened at Oscorp and Norman would have been in that scene and be slightly menacing. Just start putting it there, kind of like Cillian Murphy's cameo in Tron: Legacy.

It is just going to feel forced if in the inevitable sequel where he kills Gwen if they pop up and Harry instantly becomes a major character along with Norman. Why not space it out? Kind of like Curt Connors in the Raimi movies...except if Raimi had actually used the Lizard as I had hoped.

The only way I could explain jjj not being in this, is maybe peter will have a bit of a wrestling career, so then he wouldn't need a job at the daily bugle just yet.

If he's in high school, why would he need to earn a living? Even in the Raimi films, he didn't start the photographer gig until AFTER he graduated.

I mean he did in Spectacular Spiderman and he did in Ultimate Spiderman..not as a freelance reporter though.

Its a movie if they really wanted Parker to work as freelance photographer even in HS they couldve done it

They could've done it, but they clearly felt it was better saved until later installments - when Peter's older and living closer to the Bugle.

Doesnt matter than much to me. THe Bugle is good, but not extremely important. Not like the Osborns who I hope the Osborns are in this.

I agree. I mean, Jonah's a fan favorite, but he's not really integral to the story - especially not with so much else on the plate.

I'm more glad the Capt. Stacy character is finally gonna get some attention in these movies(SM3's BS doesn't count). To me, that's an acceptable trade off for the JJJ/Daily Bugle stuff.

JJ not being in the film I think is stupid. Jameson's war on Spider-Man's name is a big part of what makes Spider-Man interesting (since people hate him) and I think throwing him out of the film is a mistake.

Just because JJJ is not in the film doesnt mean we wont get snippet of Bugle lines declaring the classic "Hero or Menace" bit.

Not EVERY supporting character needs to be shoe horned into the FIRST film - JJJ and the Bugle is one of them.

But prior to uncle Ben dying, was the bugle even slandering spidey? And did Jameson have a presence? If this movie focuses more on spideys showbiz career (before Ben dies), then it'd be accurate to not yet include the "hero or menace" bit as that was (if I'm not mistaken) something that only occurs after his debut as a super-hero.

We dont know what time period before or after Ben's death this film will focus on. For all we know, Ben could die in the credits. Spidey could be an established hero for months.

We just dont know.

My point is...Have SOME trust in Webb. I doubt he simply forgot or decided to ignore one of spidey's major supporting cast without good reasons.

Personally, I'm more concerned with no word of the Osborns than JJJ - concerned...not freaking out!

well having the majority of the film take place before Ben dies would IMO qualify as a good reason.

That way, it would be comic accurate to not include JJ wouldn't it?

Wait a minute, why were there pics of the Daily Bugle vans. Are they just going to show the vans and not the company? Although it is possible to show them (to plant the seed as mentioned above) without showing the Bugle. I don't really mind the slow progression to JJJ/Bugle. But I don't think the film makers are that smart to be that subtle.

Personally, I hope that Jameson isnt used as comedy relief in this series. If anyone should be funny, it should be Spidey.

You have a very valid point - it just all depends on the way they are molding the story. For all we know the film could end with Pete walking into the Bugle to apply for a job - we just dont know.

As we all know from EVERY comic film EVER made comic accurate is not always a sure thing - its the deviations THAT WORK, that matter.

Heck, I wouldnt mind seeing the Green Goblin already established in NYC before even showing a hint of Osborn...

Amen to that - I want the Bugle and Jameson to be taken a tad more seriously - The Bugle should be more New York Post than National Enquirer.

That's a great way of putting it, and I agree. The Bugle in the previous films were the National Enquirer on Crack.

...as freelance photographers? No way J.J. buys into that, not even with the pictures Peter brings him.

Of course they would, if someone brings in an exclusive photograph they will want to buy it, doesn't matter what age they are.
That's how highschool Pete made his money to make his webbing formula in the original Lee/Ditko comics, I'm surprised no-one has mentioned this yet.

But yeah, as Gamma Goliath was saying, it makes sense , and could be interesting, if we see him working as a wrestler for a while, because remember in Amazing Fantasy 15 he had an ongoing tv career that spun out of the wrestling appearance, they may even do that, make him a tv star, but over the course of the movie he ends up learning and wanting to become a superhero.

Im alittle confused, what is the timeline in this movie? Is it spiderman in his peak with flashbacks to his origins or just a origin entirely? If its his origin high school days then its fine that we dont see the daily bugle yet given the circumstances but you can still show the paper in the background. Sorry if Im coming off as a noob but I read different stories all over as to when in the timeline this takes place. Also for the record J.K. Simmons was awesome as jameson.
