James Cameron's Sequel to "AVATAR" - Part 1

I don't know about the people but I surely do and if they don't the marketing machine will make them care again :)

So Episode VIII and Avatar 2 will go toe-to-toe. I'm tempted to say that by that time Star Wars will be big and people won't care about Avatar that much anymore but that would be underestimating Cameron. He's proven naysayers wrong again and again.

Yeah, I would never count Cameron out. The dude has his own mindset about ****, but he's not stupid.

Will people still care about this franchise at that point?

James Cameron will make people care, lol, i thought that Titanic and Avatar had already proven that.

If VII is a huge success, Avatar 2 is going to have problems with VIII.

At this point, I'm more invested in the Avatar stuff than SW. It might be a cheap move, but Cameron could go on about how the next Avatar movie continues the cinematic innovation that began with Avatar, comparing it to the sort of stuff Lucas did for SFF cinema with Star Wars.

I still don't believe these Avatar sequels are ever going to get made. I don't see a studio coughing up $200m for a film with Sam Worthless in the lead.

It's James Cameron directing. The man who delivered the two biggest films at the box office. Of course, it's happening.

And I'd rather wait 8 years for a good sequel than have them come out on some assembly line *cough*MarvelDC*cough*

Did you mean Sam Worthington? Cameron must have him locked in a bunker somewhere. Feels like he vanished after Avatar.

i would like to know how can the avatar sequel be realesed in december 2016 with less than 2 years of post production?
you think i wrotte this post yesterday because i was bored? its been a big rumor on CGI forums for weeks that Avatar would get delayed because they didnt have enough time to render half of the movie for the december 2016 date.

some here have NOOOOO idea just how complex and complicated pre production on avatar has become. the avatar sequel is going to use technology that is not supposed to be ready for at least 5 years. they are spending an INSANE amount of money.

this has nothing to do with the script. the shooting script will be as simple as possible. this has everything to do with technology.

2017? Darn :csad:. Oh well, if they need the time to make it right, i'm fine with it. Cameron knows what he's doing.

Should have delayed it until Neveruary 20never.

Cameron traded competing against a stand alone Star Wars film for competing against Episode VIII...that should be very interesting.

Episode VIII better get ready to move

Disney wont move Episode VIII for Avatar 2. Cameron has already shown a habit of delaying the film. Why would Disney move VIII when they know they can compete and its highly likely that Cameron will end up delaying Avatar 2 again?

Disney and Cameron are working together, with the Avatar land at Disney's animal park in Florida. Disney wants these films to succeed so people will come to the Avatar land.

Disney wants their $4 billion dollar investment in star wars to succeed far more than Fox's Avatar.

Disney wants to make as much money as possible and how that happens is irrelevant for them.

Personally I think SW8 vs Avatar2 box-office will depend a lot on the reception of SW7. If SW7 turns out to be amazing SW8 will dominate the 2017 box-office, if it is mediocre or worse Avatar2 will probably take the #1 spot that year. Anywhere in between and it's a coin toss.

As for the news of the delay, I think it's a shame we have to wait another year, but if the time spent means a significant upgrade in quality of the final product(s) it's definitely worth it in my opinion.
