Who says that Arnold would necessarily be an evil General (Lang's character was actually a Colonel btw). Maybe he's an evil scientist, or and evil Nav'i, or and evil Oak tree, or something like that.

Damn, was just getting excited about the Arnie news and then its debunked, typical, would love to see him in the movie though.

I need to hear Arnold say the word "na'vi."

Zod was not the villain in MOS. because WB and Snyder said that its not true. hehe

Arnie being in this movie as a General would be abolutely brilliant. It's funny, as good as Lang was, I've always been a fan of Michael Biehn and if he had been cast as the villian in 1 and then Arnie was the villain in 2, that would have made for some cool symmetry.

Sam Worthington Says Avatar Sequels Will Shoot Fall of 2014
Actor says the films will shoot simultaneously.

As filmmaker James Cameron continues developing Avatars 2, 3, and 4, franchise star Sam Worthington gave an update on the upcoming sequels, revealing that production will begin this time next year.
"They are still writing it," the actor told the Fitzy & Wippa show on NovaFM. "We are going to start this time next year, and we will do two, three and four. In one shot, we'll do them simultaneously. I'll be grateful if it finishes."

Avatar 2 is scheduled to hit theaters in December 2016, with Avatar 3 slated for December 2017, and Avatar 4 the year after that

Hopefully people enough people care about and then like the second, because if they don't, good luck 3 and 4.

Stephen Lang to Return for All Three Avatar Sequels

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=110529

Even though it didn't look like we would see him again after 2009's Avatar, Twentieth Century Fox has confirmed that actor Stephen Lang will retun as Colonel Miles Quaritch in their three upcoming Avatar sequels.

"Steven was so memorable in the first film, we're privileged to have him back," director James Cameron said in a statement. "I'm not going to say exactly HOW we're bringing him back, but it's a science fiction story, after all. His character will evolve into really unexpected places across the arc of our new three-film saga. I really look forward to working with such a gifted actor, who's also become a good friend."

The release of the first sequel will be in December 2016, with the second to follow in December 2017, and the third a year later. Sam Worthington said last week that he would start filming this time next year.

Avatar 2, 3, and 4 will be produced by Cameron and Jon Landau through their Lightstorm Entertainment banner. Writers Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds), Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planets of the Apes), and Shane Salerno (Savages) are all currently penning the individual sequels.

I guess Cameron kept his word on Lang returning.

Oh good lord.

I really enjoyed Quaritch in the first movie, but do they really have to bring him back from the dead for all three sequels?

I'd rather see a new character. Quaritch was fun but his character was played out.

If they bring him back then they can bring back Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Rodriguez too.

Schlosser85@ Agreed, i hope they don't turn him into an Agent Smith

Sigourney Weaver is coming back, i think that was announced some 2 years ago

when your first movie breaks all records you try to give the people more of the same characters and similar story beats. this story screams '' fear''. fear that they will not come close to the BO from the first movie.

fans will not get it. they never hope for something new . they always want the same. thats with books,games,comicbooks,....

using Aliens 2 (the same aliens) ,terminator (using the same actor and robot) will not work as an argument why this is good news.

New characters are fine. It doesn't mean you can't bring back some of the old ones.

I just hope he's not the villain again or that his role is kept minimal along with Ripley as some visions from the tree or something like that. I want Cameron to explore new things in Pandora, like the ocean as he stated so often. If the film doesn't bring any new location and is just the same plot i doubt it will reach half of what the first one did. That is unless the plot is presented in an interesting new way like with Terminator 2.

there will be new locations. this is the only thing that they have to promote the movie to the public. ''same planet....new location''.

but we already know that it will look amazing and unique.but the story........the story can not fail.
