Let's hope blood flow will be added to the CG skin this time. I noticed in Zoe's on set performance when she got angry with Jake blood flowed to her eyes and nose, but in the CG model that subtle addition wasn’t there. Sony Imageworks added blood flow to their three good fairies CG models in Maleficent. I’m hoping Weta Digital will add this to the CG models in Avatar 2. I’ve been wanting to see this in CG models for years.

DD is using vray. i didnt know that its been used on big effects like this haha. the blood flow made a huge difference. with avatar it would work so good because she skin is blue and the red blood is more obvious under the skin.

James Cameron Boasts About Avatar 2, 3 and 4

Avatar Avatar 2 Avatar 3 Avatar 4 James Cameron

As James Cameron tinkers away in New Zealand on Avatar 2, 3 and 4, he took the time to talk to Empire about the three back-to-back sequels that are expected to head into production imminently for release in 2016, ’17 and ’18, and he seemed rather pumped about what he has in store.
“I can tell you one thing about them,” Cameron laughs. “They’re gonna be *****in’. You will ***** yourself with your mouth wide open.”
Let’s not be too boastful, Mr. Cameron. Never one to rest on his laurels, the director had originally intended to shoot the new movies at 60 frames-per-second, but now it seems he’s switched gears on that front due to the fact that 48 FPS has already been somewhat established with The Hobbit movies.
“My thinking at the time was that 60 [FPS] might be a better segue to the video market,” he says. “I’ll be plugging into a system that’s a little more mature, so it makes sense for me to do 48 frames at this point.”
One of the reasons for delays in production has been the fine-tuning process on the three scripts by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno, who apparently all broke the stories together.
“I think we met for seven months and we whiteboarded out every scene in every film together,” Cameron explains, “and I didn’t assign each writer which film they were going to work on until the last day. I knew if I assigned them their scripts ahead of time, they’d tune out every time we were talking about the other movie.”
Lastly, he mentions (in an issue edited by Peter Jackson, no less) that Jackson and his creative partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens played an integral role in the first Avatar.
“When Neytiri is holding Jake and she’s just brought him back to consciousness, the ‘I see you’ line was suggested by them,” remembers Cameron. “It might have been Peter who said that.”

This dude cracks me up.

Hoping the plot will be better with each film, and that he's able to keep security regarding spoilers as thight as Disney is doing with Star Wars.

Disney and SW? you dont belive the rumors? ;)

its not iconic. like there are no iconic lines from the last years IMO.

is anyone repeating anything from Harry Potter movies? haha

Still very closed, also has a more rabid fanbase than Avatar. I'm quite sure that in least with Avatar 2, they don't realy have the fear of having important plot points being widely revealed, if the sequels blows up like the original, then films 3 and 4 will probably need to be more careful.

The spells i guess :oldrazz: Though characters and moments from the series are still widely referenced. Avatar? Not so much, still hopeful Cameron will massively step up his game for the sequels.

I think Avatar is still HUGE overseas, like in China, so it shall make mega bucks. It'll be a hit in the US too, but depending on how good they are, we'll they be ingrained into our pop culture? I don't know.

I feel like Guardians has tapped into our lexicon way more than Avatar. Even though it's Marvel, Guardians is still separate enough from the Avengers that it feels 'stand-alone'.

To be fair, that movie JUST came out. Let's give it a few years and see where it stands then.

LOL. Why is it everytime this thread get's bumped, Octoberist pops in with a pop culture debate and how much of an impact Avatar has had on it?

You will **** yourself with your mouth wide open.
Who the f*** told Jim Cameron about my fantasies? :o

Hopefully it'll make everyone poop with their mouths wide open, per Jim Cameron's comments!

Cameron has hired excellent screenwriters, three of these four guys are very good, I have high hopes.

Who are they? If he can give these films the stories they deserve they will really do well.

I just want to know if there is anybody post-2012 who actually had the thought that they really wanted to see 3 sequels to Avatar?

Jaffa and Silver wrote Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Friedman wrote The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Salerno wrote ... well ... he's got a weaker track record.
