The difference is for most people disney were right to sack him.
Agree to disagree!

Then he should have deleted them when he joined disney. He didn't, then used his new found fame and twitter as a political tool which was then turned against him. He has to take his share of the blame and the consequences.
From here he needs to rebuild his career. Do some indy films (which if successful) in a few years this would have died down and a big studio will rehire him.
People are acting like he has been put out on the street or something? He will be fine and is a very wealthy man. Yes it is a shame that this happened but maybe he should have thought what direction he wanted his career to go in when making those tweets.
This is coming from Variety, though. Variety is the most reputable source for all things movies. So if they say it may be on the table, I tend to believe them.

I believe in second chances. What I am asking is why does getting a second chance entitle anyone to anything? Also RDJ has a disease. It is not the same thing. So let's fire RDJ right now then. Even though he has redeemed himself, he was a scumbag like 15 years ago. Just blacklist him again
I'm sorry, but I believe in second chances.

Can we be honest here. The only reason this is about giving people second chances, is because its a guy people here liked the movies of. If say, Snyder was fired for doing something like this, do people think the same uproar would be coming from the same people? Even with the cast and Blair, there is a level of, "its happening to our guy, so now we care".
They wouldn't say something like that unless they heard it was on the table. Though I am curious how high on the ladder that conversation is. In the end it is Iger's decision, or at least Iger gets to decide who makes the decision.Oh I didn't see Variety was also saying it... still it sounds like they're basing it on Disney's radio silence. I hope they do rehire him, they should and the smug "burn him" segment of social media, not just the cybernazis, will be thunderstruck. But I doubt it is to be.
But my man, you have been in here saying you understand what happened, but want him reinstated specifically from a creative point of view. So while I think the principle would be the same, perhaps not the passion? That probably makes a difference to some, but not to me. I'd feel the same way if it was Zack Snyder or Michael Bay.

Most? Or just a loud segment of internet culture.
No i'd say most people that spend money on disney products. If you walked round disney land and showed people those tweets and ask them were disney right to fire gunn i bet the majority would say yes.
But what would be the context? That he use to make jokes about the rape of children and adults online? That it was 6-10 years ago? Like I imagine taking this poll at the gates of the Disney parks, and I just don't think they go, "well in that case, its okay".Context matters though.

What is the moral issue with firing him in your opinion? For me, when it comes to the morality of the situation, this is a you reap what you sow situation. It's not that I don't understand the decision, I just don't agree with it in. Now is my level of care enhanced by the property in question? I would be lying if I said it likely didn't. I mean, if this happened to Robert Rodriguez for the new Alita: Battle Angel movie, I probably would not be as active on the issue. But then again, I possibly would have given I followed the whole Rosanne deal when it happened for days and I don't watch that show (though as noted earlier, I see these situations being different). Either way, I'm arguing the decision on a moral front at this point. Not on a legal or PR front.

What would you say about RDJ? He has a disease that saw him as an addict a 12-15 years ago?I do think time frame and how someone changes does matter. Otherwise I could just show any random mug shot and do the same thing. Heck, I could even probably do that for RDJ if I wanted to and get a similar reaction.
How did you react to the Sam Seder situation? Did you spend a lot of time discussing it?To be honest, if Gunn decided to hang up his megaphone (Directors use those, right?) after GOTG Vol 2 I would have been fine with the decision. Iff Feige decided to move on from Gunn for creative reasons or personal conflict between the two, well what can you do?
I care about Gunn's firing because this was a cybernazi hit against a person who had done nothing wrong during his tenure at Marvel Studios outside of attacking the garbage human currently despoiling the White House. I care because I find judging people's morality based on a baker's dozen of gross jokes to be offensive. And I would have felt the same if this were Snyder, Scorsese or Uwe Boll.

Actually I feel like it would be more like the guy told me he went to jail, and I was cool hiring but he didn't tell us why he went to jail and maybe implied it wasn't as bad as one might come to find out. And then you find out you hired a someone who didn't disclose a crime that you wouldn't have hired him for.The moral issue is that they're firing him for things they already knew he did well after he wasn't doing them anymore. It's like I am McDonalds and I hire a guy that was in jail. I hire him knowing this. He is a model employee. Treats people well and people love him. Then years later I fire him because he was in jail before I hired him. I don't think that is right.
