If we think James Gunn being punished for 10 years old jokes is bad spare a thought for the racing car driver who the other day lost a sponsor because his father made a racial slur 35 years ago.
I'm off my meds today.
Joss Whedon isn't an Avenger, but James Gunn certainly IS a Guardian. I wouldn't say either of the two Avengers films Joss Whedon directed felt like his authorship in the same way that both Guardians of the Galaxy films feel like they are specific to James Gunn's cinematic style and flair.
If you take away James Gunn, the format changes drastically. The song choices will be noticeably different for a start, and James Gunn's trademark humour seen in other films such as the Scooby-Doo movies he directed will no longer be there. It will be 'Of The Galaxy', rather than 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.
Gunn wrote some things that some people considered objectionable.
The company he worked for fired him because of that.
You may not think that what he said was objectionable or fireable. That's fine. But you were not his employer. They thought it was.
You say others have done worse. So? This is not between them and his employer....it is between him and his employer.
You say many people like what he got fired for. Good. That means he will get future employment somewhere else. He will not live under a bridge begging for handouts.
It kind of makes me ill that people want to try to focus the attention on Alt-Righters instead of the man who conducted himself like that. Imagine if Gunn were the director of the Fantastic Four. I doubt he'd be getting the support from these same people.

Well, looks like GotG3 is delayed, and Bautista is still on twitter acting like a moron.
While I like Bautista, I'm not sure what he thinks he can accomplish with his series of tweets.

He's acting just like President Trump, a man child who keeps whining and crying because he didn't get his way. I'll be amazed if Bautista keeps his job at this point. Edward Norton was fired for doing less.
And if he keeps attacking Disney, the company would be well within their rights to fire him as well. Probably what he's aiming for since he doesn't wanna do GOTG3 without Gunn anyway. He could have just quit by now but he knows that would cost him everything he owns, so he's probably looking to just get fired.Or he'll just be recast or killed off. The Guardians franchise is much more than just Bautista. Dunno if I'd call everything he's saying sense, but he is stomping his feet because he's not getting his way.

Not a fan of how Bautista has handled this.Yeah, it's pretty clear that Bautista wants out, but didn't want to break his contract and be sued by Disney. And Disney will probably ended up making the movie just so he will be forced to honor the contract, especially if he keeps tweeting.
He'll be fine, he just won't work for Disney again, and if their current behaviour continues a number of people probably won't be.
I agree, Batista is likely more comfortable in a financial sense then anybody he ever knew except Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon. He and his family truly has "F me money" and he can take any stance he wants. Meanwhile what director is going to jump to Disney to do this movie with US Presidential politics intertwined into the reasons they need a new director?

what does presidential politics have to do with this? this is over rape and pedi kid related jokes at the end of the day. Disney clearly doesn't care if you bash the president as long as you don't cross the lines of kid and family friendly related jokes and jabs. they'll get another director most likely by the end of the year.
