I guess people will have to hashtag #ThatsTheJoke or /sarcasm until a new way of telling jokes in the written form is invented.

Otherwise no tasteless stuff on Twitter.

All actors and actresses should hire someone to run their twitter accounts. If your twitter account can be used to fire you it should be treated like part of your job.

With millions at stake James should have at least had someone tell him to delete that stuff when he was hired for the first Guardians.

It is absolutely all Gunns fault.

Well.....as an administrator of this site, I will say now so that it is clear....rape and pedophilia jokes are absolutely not allowed on here....and in most cases jokes about killing people are not allowed.
I can't believe that this even has to be said. People should have a built-in aversion to rape and pedophilia that they don't accept them or do nearly 10K tweet worth of these jokes. People may not like that he got taken down because of these bad tweets but the company he works for doesn't want to get dragged down that rabbithole when their reputation and millions and billions of dollars are at stake.

Otherwise no tasteless stuff on Twitter. Or the Internet.

Heck maybe we should start delivering licenses to those wanting to make offensive jokes.
I am confused. Who said you can't make those "jokes" on twitter? The real question is, why would someone who said those things thing they could keep working for a company that markets heavily towards children if it ever got out.

You can joke about that type of stuff as much as you want on twitter. Let's just hope that you don't work for company that doesn't want it's employees to write that type of stuff online if you represent that company.

We'll be hard pressed to find a company that wouldn't care about its image if the furor was a quarter of what has been given by Gunn. That's for sure.

Free speech has consequences. If he wanted to make tacky 'jokes' he should have become a comedian not a director

Its almost like people have a problem with child rape jokes...

If you work for Mcdonalds I'm sure you can say whatever you want. But if Disney hired David Duke and Mr. Duke wrote a bunch of tasteless racist jokes I want to know why Disney hired David Duke. I don't care if he wrote them when he was 10 years old.

Call me a snowflake all you want.

McDonald's has fired employees who've made bad social media posts so it's not just Disney who'll fire people over poor tweets. Not sure how hard it is for people to understand that as soon as you post anything on social media for the world to see, it could come back to bite you if it's in too poor of taste.

Are you equating what Gunn did to a leader of the KKK?

I gotta assume you are against shows like Family Guy or It's Always Sunny?

this, which is why i deliberately brought up macfarlane

family guy has had an on-going pedophile character as a running gag for YEARS. longer than when gunn said stuff

It's Fox's choice to keep McFarlane for those types of jokes, just like it's Disney choice to fire Gunn after his tweets. Different people, different companies, different actions.

Because the individual is not the company. And because we're adults. I suppose we have to start treating other adults as children now out of fear?

Just trying to say that regardless of the person and the length of time if someone wrote a few thousand tweets about black people being the N-word. I wouldn't care how long ago it was or how sorry they were now. Especially if the tweets still existed on the persons account.

But when that individual is a very public face for the company, that company typically doesn't want to be attached to the controversy associated with that person.

Are you suggesting someone who works for a company does not represent the company? C. Lee just said you can't do such things here and expect to stick around. Are the mods treating us like children?

I don't use twitter or really care what most entertainers athletes or Hollywood people do on it or in their personal life.) I enjoyed Gunn's work on the movies and in the MCU, weird to get fired for some tweet 10 years ago.

It is what it is but I am pretty sure majority on twitter and social media say stupid things or say dumb things. He probably pissed off someone more powerful in the industry so now they dig it up. They have been working with the guy for years so they know his personality and this isn't some "OMG i can't believe he said that" they know him.

Again. It's a nasty situation Gunn caught himself in. I don't even disagree with Disney decision.

What I do find appalling is that people are saying "think of the children"!

When there were no children directly affect by a comment made by a nobody at that time.

I like the idea that he was making jokes about raping children while at dinner with Feige, Horn and Iger. It sounds completely accurate.

you are right, and disney is about to be the new boss, if they don't have seth jetison the character then they're hypocrites right?

No one is saying think of the children. People are saying Disney is a company that markets mainly towards children, and employing someone who spent thousands of tweets making jokes about raping children and women doesn't seem all the intelligent.

In my opinion, yes and yes. Though the mods are not the discussion of this thread.

Kevin Feige." Don't worry Bob he makes pedo jokes all the time...."

Dude deserved it. I don't care how old those tweets are, some of them are indefensible.
