James Newton Howard will score GREEN LANTERN

hmm no clue octoberist. He could be it or it just could be a random poster editing it as we all know how imdb works lol.

That's been changed within the last week because beforehand there was no composer listed. Also, it says the same thing on wikipedia in the offical info box to the right of the page. That part of a wiki-page has to be changed by on official site moderator, no one else can mess with it.

James Newton Howard is doing the score for Green Lantern, I bet you anything. Which I'm definitely not unhappy about. I've always loved his music and now two of my favorite charactes will have themes created by him. Very cool, imo. :hal: :woot:

yea if he is real pick i dont see anything wrong with him.

i really think his best work was with M. Night. Even in his bad movies like The Happening (which is a great movie if you see it as a 'so bad it's good' movie), Howard was awesome.

It's weird, I was just watching The Sixth Sense the other night and thinking to myself what a great score it had. Damn... I really want him to do this movie now!

well if he is the real pick hopefully someone official will confirm it.

I've checked his resume on the Gorfaine-Schwartz website, and "Green Lantern" is not listed anywhere. I'd wait to hear official news from Film Score Monthly or something for a JNH confirmation.

yea for all we know it could have just been a fan edit to his imdb page. Like i said i hope we get confirmation soon. Though i dont expect anything to end of summer probably. But if he is our guy i will be fine with it. I hope he makes a grand space themes for gl.

Yeah, I don't think we're gonna hear the composer to this film for another few months or so. It's kind of early for it.

yea totally composers on average dont come on to film is in edting stage. so they are scoring actual vidoes and all that. so late summer/early fall i would peg official comfirmation.

I would like Howard Shore, David Newman or even James Horner.

Danny Elfman would be the obvious choice, but honestly, i think his style would add to the cliche of the movie being 'light and fluffy' - which would destroy it!

I think Danny Elfman's career high was ten years ago. Now his scores are just aping his old stuff.

John Powell please. He needs to score another superhero movie. His score for X3 was the best part of the movie.

I'm still holding out for James Newton Howard. His soundtrack for Treasure Planet had the right mix between sci-fi and swashbuckling adventure...

That being said, if he doesn't get the gig, I'd like to see Howard Shore or David Arnold composing the soundtrack.

Michael Giachino goddamit. He can score my funeral for all I care.

10 years ago was probably Danny's worst period of scoring. I much prefer his more mature, orchestral of nowadays to that.

His UBER generic stuff now? honestly, out of 5 scores these days, he might produce 1 that's decent.

Which was the decent one? He hasn't done a good score since SM2.

Wolfman and AIW both received brilliant reviews from music critics.

2009 was a limp year, I'll admit that.

2008 - four brilliant scores. One Oscar nomination for Milk, Hellboy II was met with a mixed reaction from fans but got a great critical reception. His score for the documentary Standard Operating Procedure was also met with praise as was Wanted.

Generic? Alright.... In a world dominated by Zimmer and his pulsing beat with looping strings and his remote contol army (Jablonsky etc) I'll take Elfman's 'generic' (still don't get that) cues any day of the week.

Anyway JNH would be a great pic.

If I ever become rich, I'm going to hire him to follow me around all day long with his full orchestra and play the scores from LOST and Star Trek. If he's feeling particularly creative, he can come up with something new too, I wouldnt mind.
