Jared Leto IS The Joker - - - - - - Part 15

I get the impression the scenes with him and Harley were deliberately cut to make it look like one of those shipping YouTube music video montages for the Tumblr crowd. "Make their relationship crazy sexy cool".

I said the exact same thing to a mate of mine after seeing the film.

seriously is there any chance of a recast? i doubt given the investment in leto, but for once i wish someone had the balls to and get it right

Jared Leto will be the Joker again. Can't wait.

I'm not sure now, though I personally hope Leto comes back, but going from an Oscar winning performance to this with the movie's reception, his character's reception, the cut scenes etc. it all must be a bit... off putting.

And he seems to have changed his tune since the movies release from saying he could play the Joker over and over again for the rest of his career, to now being a bit more cagey and saying he would come back IF people liked him enough if not he would go live in a cave (his own words lol) he seems kinda bummed out about the whole thing.

Though him and Affleck seem to be good friends, maybe working alongside Ben and being directed by him would be enough to get him across the line for the Batman solo we'll see I guess.

I say ditch the tattoos and grillz and essentially start from scratch with the Batman film.

 This. Please.

Whether Jared returns or not, let's at least have the Joker looking less 'gangsta'.

Start from scratch? Don't we want WB to stick to their guns and actually follow through with their original plan? How would completely redesigning a character and ****ing up continuity accomplish that? It's exactly the kind of ***** reactionary behavior we're all condemning here.

They should stick with a horrendous looking Joker who doesn't impress because... sticking with something for the sake of it is some kinda point?

Personally I'm somewhat open to giving Leto another go since there isn't much Joker in the movie and we don't know what was cut. That and I'm wary about recasting because it's always a gamble as to what you will get, but it doesn't seem as though Leto's Joker connects with much of audience so maybe a recast is in order.

As far as redesigning the character, that doesn't have to impact continuity at all and frankly would just be heaven sent if we can get away from the car crash that is the Joker's tattoos and grills.

In the end, that's just your opinion, though. And I honestly fail to see how these aspects ruined the character in the movie.

We keep complaining about WB bowing to focus audiences and pulling back from their original vision, but if something doesn't align with OUR opinions it should be changed. I'm not saying everything is set in stone but it sounds a little hypocritical.

I think there is a difference between open up your movie before release for dissection to the point where the studio orders two competing cuts (if that's true) and fans on a message board giving their opinions post release. We're still free to make our arguments as to what worked or not and it's not like we have a direct impact on the studio and film as in the other case.

but wasn't joker originally a gangster and a bank robber ???
and i like that each of the jokers has been a different beast so far.

I warmed to the gangster vibe, even though it's not my ideal take. I just wish we saw more from Leto to actually form a concrete opinion on him. And obviously made him more abusive towards Harley and less of a Romeo.

I didn't mind the tats as much as I thought I would. But I really think he needs to lose the "grills" or whatever. They make him seem like he's wearing a mouth guard or something and it's distracting. Like his teeth poke out farther than normal, but in an awkward way not threatening.

It seems fairly evident the problem with the DCEU is that there is no plan.

Yeah, I barely noticed the tattoos in the film, TBH. But I think the grill partially affected his speech and made him a little hard to understand at times. I also wasn't a big fan of all the growling, though I suppose it might have grown on me more if I actually SAW more of his performance. I got the impression that this Joker was probably a heavy drug user... that's something new and I don't mind it but if that was the case, the should have firmly established that.

yeah, but harley is a dyed blond - joker wasn't blond but presumably a brunette . she does get those permanent dyed tips from their shirts melting. also, it's acid that doesn't burn their skin. are we really going to look for ways to justify it.

I see your point, while I understand why some people don't like the design even if I do, that's barely the issue. Heck, Heath's was just terrible, but the performance kicked ass. That's the thing here, Jared's work was butchered, his introduction.

I'm disappointed, but I want to see more of him, this was just an awful tease.

Just add some burns or something over his crap tattooss and I'd be fine with his look.

On the other hand I'm not fine with Leto's overacting. He was trying so hard to create something remarkable... and it back fired.

But to be fair to Leto I'm not really sure if he was on the same page with Ayer. Maybe if Skwad was directed by someone like Carnahan or the late Tony Scott or even Oliver Stone (if you saw Savages), just someone more over the top then Leto's performance would fit that movie better.

Jokers hair needed a solo film before this.:o
