Don't be that guy.

It's true. I don't know if you guys are living off 2008 Nostalgia but go back and rewatch a lot of the stuff just doesn't do it for me anymore. He's great but I found Leto has far more to his character and I can't wait to get him in a full movie showing all this off.

I think I can speak for most people here and say... agree to disagree.

You're right Ledger wasn't menacing and didn't deserve an Oscar. Dated take on the character. He's really just like a cuddly and goofy Caesar Romero.

Suicide Squad's Joker Bieber though? That was impressive.

Most threatening thing he did was when he shot Common for staring at his hot eye candy.

Ledger was cutting smiles into people's faces. Assassination attempts on the mayor and DA. Blowing up judges, manipulating and killing mob or gang bosses galore. Driving the city nuts. Killing cops. Shooting them in the head with shotguns. Making recruits kill each other with pool sticks to survive.

I admire MasterChief2829's efforts. Gotta see him with better material and a better director first. The Ben Affleck Batman movie may ultimately prove he's right that Leto is a great Joker.

There's no reason to put down Ledger's Joker to prop up Leto's, and vice versa. The fact that Leto's Joker isn't "better" and doesn't "top" Ledger's Joker with his minimal screen time as a background character doesn't mean he's automatically worse or ineffective.

They both have completely different roles and serve completely different purposes within the context of their films.

Yep. It's just gutless filmmaking. For better or worse, make the movie you want to make. Pandering to any focus group for fear of offending them is no way to live. And so what if some people are offended? So what? Being offended these days is nothing more than a whine. It doesn't grant the complainer any special privileges. Backtracking on content is simply gutless and disappointing. Hate Snyder all you want, but at least he want all in with his tone and themes.

couldn't agree more if it's so offensive don't watch the dam movie
can't believe WB caved in on this ESPECIALLY FOR JOKER

So disappointing

It's a last resort defense mechanism. People don't like something you like? Well then let's take a shot at one of the more celebrated versions of the character that has absolutely nothing to do with the conversation at hand, that'll show them!

Leto being heralded as great as Ledger's Joker, while underrating the latter by a vocal minority after the completely forgettable performance and take on the character we've seen thus far is disrespectful, delusional and basically idiotic.

I always liked the idea of John Hawkes as The Joker.

just googled gilgun: haven't seen him act, but on the surface he looks perfect

I think the reason why I didn't love this Joker was because he just wasn't funny.

Joker shouldn't act menacing or intimidating. The whole reason why he's intimidating and menacing to other characters is his immense unpredictability and willingness to pretty much do anything.

The character from the comics and the one that Romero, Nicholson, Hamill and even Ledger played had this playful amicability to him. Like if you separate him from his horrifying actions the Joker is actually sort of endearing and charismatic.

I see Michael Pitt more of a Jonathan Crane type of guy. As for me, I've always wanted Joe Gilgun to play the Joker ever since I saw Lockout.

Joe Gilgun would be pretty great , too, not gonna lie. He could probably even pull off Zsasz. He plays a perfect Cassidy in Preacher.

However, I've had Michael Pitt in mind for Joker ever since I saw him in Bully and Funny Games (where he plays a total psychopath who terrorizes an innocent family just for ****s and giggles. If that's not Joker , idk what is.) His role in Hannibal just intensified that for me since his character was meant to be Joker-esque. "The Joker meets Scott Disick " as Bryan Fuller described it.

Yeah I can kinda see it, he was pretty good in Funny Games.

There's also Walton Goggins, Alex Ross Joker incarnate.

Walton Goggins should be a household name, that dude oozes talent.

would've made an exceptional joker with that set of choppers.
