Is there a chance they do some flashback in JL to this whole Robin was killed by the Joker thing? They seem to want to desperately remind people of that

It's gonna happen, but not in JL.

Damn so my excitement for that one is still down to only Momoa and Batfleck's beard looking good :funny:

Snyder could do it if he really wanted to. Diana enters the Batcave for the first time, sees the Robin suit, goes "what's that?" and bam.

Well it's dark stuff so maybe....but do I want Snyder who directed Jessie Eisenberg to the results he had in BvS near Leto...

nope, forget I asked :)

Joker killed Robin by stuffing his face with Jolly Ranchers.

Wait. When did they say that Harley was an accomplice to Robin's murder?

it flashes across the screen during her introduction montage in suicide squad

Wasn't a big fan of what I saw of him. I liked some things like him shooting in the chopper.

I actually wished they would show a scene of Batman knocking his teeth out, instead of telling us later on.

Favourite Joker moments

• Flashback of Joker at Arkham lying down, while Harley interviews him. It's a quick cut, but very reminiscent of the animated episode "Mad Love"
• AK shooting out of the chopper

Him shooting out of the chopper and laughing was a very Joker moment. Loved that part. :woot:

I posted a quote from Ayer earlier today. He said Batman knocked out Joker's teeth after Robin's death.

Oh so its not mentioned in the movie. I thought we were told meant it was in the movie somewhere.

Nono :)

It's just sad that we get all this additional information afterwards. Information that would have maybe even the benefited the film itself. Or at least made character motivations and appearances less ambigues.

Ayer confirms that Batman knocked Joker's teeth out

I knew it. :atp:
Nice to have it confirmed.

....Wish we could have seen it though.:funny:

I also really likecwhat he said about the damaged tattoo.

To be fair, the contradiction is because of that one, quick line of text in Harley's intro. Maybe they just didn't really think it through.
That's what I'm thinking.

See, but how the **** could Harley have been an accomplice then, if he had the tattoos and grillz when she fricken met him?!

When driving, be careful of plot holes....

I liked Leto's performance for the most part. There were a couple spots that I thought were over the top or not very good, in terms of his actual delivery/performance the 3 that stood at as bad to me were...

- His facial expressions during the Batmobile chase were pretty awful
- His over the top delivery of the last sentence in the "Infamous Harley Quinn" line, the first sentences were good, then he flares up and uses silly hand gestures and changes his voice a bit, it was too much
- The "Kiss the Ring" moment, the scene itself is good, but that particular part, is so cliche and un-original, just stupid. Though that's not really a performance thing, he sold it fine, it's just a stupid played out cliched gesture

The writing wasn't particularly great.. the "Hunka Hunka" line is pretty bad writing but I think his delivery of that line was good enough that it didn't sound as horrible as it could have been.

The characterization is a bit off, I didn't like the heavy Mob Boss tone or the romantic theme of his relationship with Harley, but that's not Leto's fault, that's the storyline/director/writing. Obviously we know now they removed alot of the abusive relationship stuff, that was a mistake. There has always been a bit of a Mob boss theme within the Joker, but they went a step further than ever before and it takes away from the uniqueness of the character.

Overall I thought his voice, mannerisms and laugh were very good. I had no problem at all with growling/purring, though I don't want him doing it every other scene, but it didn't bother me in general, actually I thought it was good in the Ike scene. The "Hurt you really, really bad", "Chemical Bath" and Arkham/Harleen scenes I thought he was great in.

As for his look, just dump the damaged tat and ALL the jewelry, give him the purple suit... Do that, and his look is very good. I like the lack of eyebrows and I've even learned to like the grill (though they should make it a bit more form fitting). The rest of the tats, whatever, just don't constantly have him shirtless/open shirted and I don't mind them. The purple suit is a must. But all the flashy cars/clothes and jewelry is just awful, really really awful.

I thought he was good overall and has a enormous amount of potential if they make some tweaks here and there. The worst part of it was the decision making for the characterization for me. Turning him into a generic millennial gangsta/mob boss was just stupid. Leto's performance itself was good overall IMO.

With the hype and success of that film the acclaim was never going to wane, so no point in kidding yourself on that it was ever likely to.

Because he died. Ledger was great as the joker, but the level to which his performance is hyped up is ridiculous.

I didn't care for Leto's take, but if he was given a look and a script as good as Ledgers who knows how it might have turned out

You weren't here in December 2007, were you? The trailer that was released in that month caused this forum to go absolutely nuts. Up until that point there was a lot of the same squabbling over the appearance of the character (just as we saw in the lead-up to Suicide Squad). But as soon as people got a halfway decent look at Ledger's performance, they knew it was going to be great. That trailer was released before he died as well. How do you explain the reaction to that trailer after months and months of acrimonious discussion regarding the permawhite, scarred mouth, etc.? And you can't say it's because he died. Trailer was released over a month before his death.

I feel bad for Leto that so much of his performance was cut from the new movie and I'm curious to see the deleted scenes. I also give him a ton of credit for having the guts to take on the role. But I also think the studio wouldn't have cut almost his entire performance if it was some mind-blowingly great performance. They would have known they had the goods immediately. Test audiences would have told them as well. I also believe WB didn't want to cut his scenes but felt they had to for whatever reason. Maybe test audiences hated the scenes in question. Why would WB want to cut the scenes for the most popular character in the movie? This is the character that they were counting on to sell the movie to the general public. And sure enough they still used him heavily in the marketing despite the cut scenes.

Seems there were so many different cuts of this movie that maybe one of the editors threw that line in there. Then they forgot to clean it up.
