Jason Statham to take on Meg

They need to hurry up and release a trailer for this. That first official image is the definition of unimpressive, but then again it is only a still shot. If they are trying to build any hype for this than they have to do better, because unlike most big blockbusters this doesn't have an established audience outside of fans of the books.

The trailer is going to debut with either Tomb Raider or Ready Player One (since both are WB movies) so it should be online in the next couple of weeks.

I've waited for so long to see this. I hope it's the giant shark movie to end all shark movies. We really just need an awesome looking giant megalodon shark, and I think this could be amazing.

if they attach both this and Aquaman trailer I'll consider watching this garbage just for that :funny:

Literally cannot wait to see the trailer. I never read the book or heard about it til this movie was announced

So according to Screenrant and Bloody-Disgusting, the trailer is about 2 weeks away.

If so it's subtle. I'd be down.

It looks too subtle for Hollywood and something about the composition feels off, like it isn't high enough quality. Then again I do remember some of the disasters they've thrown out before so maybe it is legit. As a fan made poster it isn't bad but if it is real then I hope this is just a poor quality copy of it.

It looks too subtle for Hollywood .

Agreed. As nice a poster as it is, most people will only see it for two seconds when they walk past a billboard or see it on the side of a bus, and probably wouldn't notice the shark.

Also, the shark looks flat - the bits of it nearer the surface, like the teeth should be clearer.

Not sure if that's a real poster image, but it does look really cool. I want that to be a real poster.

Also, would the shark even actually be that big in the film? MEG is supposed to be huge, but that thing looks Godzilla size.

Yeah, was thinking the same. Maybe someone from an agricultural livestock meat production firm has been dumping the carcasses of dead animals [that have been the subject of illegal growth hormone testing] into the ocean and MEG's been chomping on them all these years and got really big. ;)

That would make Statham a cockney Robert Forster.

This poster is far too subtle for a flick where Statham probably punches the gigantic shark :funny:

That isn't a great poster but it is still less subtle than Meg's and it doesn't look so blatantly photoshopped.

It is not definite but almost certainly a fake upon reading this from Steve Alten (the author of the book):

What is important is that the trailers are finished and they WILL come out in April…. Also debuting in April will be the movie poster. I’ve seen the mock-up and I really like it. It features an angle of the MEG that has never appeared on one of my MEG covers.”
Dark Horizons

I can see the reviews:

MEGa let down
MEGa cheesy
Shark Weak

This wrapped a gazillion years ago though - I've been married, had a kid, got divorced and seen my kid grow up and get married (and divorced) since, its been that long - I think a bit of impatience is understandable.

Ok. I never said it wasn’t understandable at all. I merely made a statement about information that was given recently.
