Comics Jean and the Phoenix Force

Even when she was the Phoenix, however, she could self-admittedly only draw upon a limited portion of that vast power. This could be due either to her inexperience, to some sort of genetic incompatibility (she's only Jean's daughter, after all, not her clone), or to the fact that -- as we now know -- the Phoenix Force she commanded was only a shattered fragment of the whole.

She did gain the full power of the Phoenix Force after her fight with Necrom in Excalibur 50. IIRC, she had it for like 30 issues.

yes but if you see the storyline here comes tomorrow you see that there are also males phoenix, one example is quentin quire, as it is shown in that story. also Phoenix IX is a man........so both sexes can be host to phoenix..

And don't forget Professor X was also the host to the Phoenix Force.

He was? Can the force be in 2 bodies at once?

That was a freakin opinion. They actually said Storm is one with the cosmos in the comics. So I don't know why you, Prettyboy, and Bastila are getting so angry. You don't see me jumping off the walls when people talk about Storm so you shouldn't get mad at a mere opinion.:o

Ay son, I'd never get angry nor worked up over any post on a blog, unless it deals with prejudicy in any form, first of all. Second, I don't take appreciation to anyone laughing at my opinions especially when that is the purpose of these boards is to express one's opinions. Third, I'm am often times disagreed with and there is a mature way of doing so, and I don't believe that "HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAAAHAA" is part of the mature way... Holla back youngin.

Brian, appreciate the clarifications on Jean/Phoenix, hope it isn't retconned in a few years as has everything else i've liked about the x titles.

I don't know why your overreacting. It was mostly addressed to the person I quoted so.. And I was laughing at that description he gave of Jean which is no where near childish.

Yeah, it can be in mulitple bodies if it needs to be. Look at the Necrom Vs Rachel fight.

I thought Jean was the only force? Whatever. Her life is too confusing......yet sad.

Edit: Oy yeah, Hand you can get you an avvy now.

Men could definitely host the Phoenix Force and perhaps be the Phoenix itself, but I'm just citing an example of why the Phoenix might gravitate towards female hosts. Another way of saying it is that since Jean Grey is supposed to be the Phoenix of our reality, the Phoenix Force would look for traits similar to hers in seeking out a host, traits like her personality, her powers, and her gender.

And anyway, we can't be exactly sure what those extra Phoenixes in the White Hot Room are -- they might be from alternate realities, or from the future, the past, etc -- and as I understand it, Phoenix IX was from an alternate future hundreds of years in the future; any number of different rules could apply to these examples.

Is Jean immortal? Since she is one with the Phoenix she should be but she aged in X-Men 98 and I'm guessing she was aged in X-Men The End too even though it wasn't that noticable..

I don't know about that. She was reborn in the End Song. Everyone else of her era were noticably older, she looked pretty youthful sans the fire hair.

Depends on what you mean by immortal. She can certainly physically die, and has died at least twice now. But she always comes back, reborn from the ashes just as a mythical phoenix would.

I think she always comes back young looking really, in Endsong they had this bit where she said to Scott 'I'll be there the day you die'' and in the picture she looked young and Scotty looked old.

Ay yo, does anyone have a link to a cool looking phoenix image, kinda like the one on Rachel's back?

Given all the sh1t the X-men are about to get into with the Shi'ar...

should Rachel reclaim the power of the Phoenix Force?

Firebrandx5 -- Will the full power of the Phoenix Force be returned to Rachel?

EB -- No. But there is Phoenix-related stuff that will occur, centering around her.

I like ur avvy Explodingboy. Is that a commercial or something?

Totally with you Hand!!!! Rachel Phoenix has always been far more impressive than Jean Phoenix, not to mention, she has always been stronger, always controlling the dark aspect, never turning evil. Rachel can control "The Force" better than her predecessor :p

I have always like Rachel as Phoenix rather than Jean. It's a shame when your own child is stronger than you, lol. Then I guess that goes' for Reed and Sue as well.

If I remember right at the end of the Grey's End story Rachel said something to the effect of "I'm not Phoenix... but by the time I'm done with them the Shi'ar are going to wish I was." Meaning she doesn't intend on going all Phoenix-y, she's going to go after them using only her own [vast] powers. I mean within the last year of Uncanny we've seen her create a black hole to get rid of The Fury and restructure her entire genome just using her own powers. But then again she still manifests the Phoenix raptor "eye patch" when she uses her power so maybe on some level she's always going to be connected to the force and drawing power from it.

Rachel V Jean would be a good fight to see!.

Isn't Jean going to be in Warsong?? It is a Phoenix story.

I had a question what was it.....Oh Endsong, how long do you think Jean was dead for as the last time she died was after she did the whole changing the furture thing i think, i'm sure it is, i can't be borthered to look though my room for the comic but it was that.
