Is he? Right now I can see Michael B Jordan as a black Batman and I'm more interested in it than I am Pattinson.

The only acceptable reason to be against Jeffrey Wright’s casting as Gordon is that we will never get to see him totally kill it as Darkseid.

Taking away the race thing in general, I don't prefer his face or body shape, based on the little I've seen, for the role. This is why I was leaning more into mid-late 40's for an actor, to have a version who I think looked physically active more. I've begun to lean for Ewan McGregor, as I don't prefer him for Black Mask either way.

So you don't like Jeffery Wright for some reason. Just say so. Don't dress it up as 'I like a certain look'. Because clearly you are flexible if you like the casting.

Not to mention we haven't actually seen him as Gordon yet. So you are hating without having seen the final product.

I'm not pro Pattinson particularly myself, or any of the casting. Why should someone make themself like a concept they don't like based on them not seeing it? Why can't it be based on look? I wouldn't want Adam Driver as Batman. I don't like his look. Same reason for Wright, Farrell, Kravitz, the Smeagle actor and Pattinson. Why can't it be the case for that person?

The assumption that a black character can't come from a line of wealth really says a lot about the implicit biases in both the education system and media representation. That said, I do think Bruce being as privileged as possible is an important aspect of the character.

Gordon, however, is (IMO) supposed to look like a world-weary beat cop with "loveable paternal figure" vibes. And Wright 100% fits that bill.

I don't like his shape for the role, facially/physically. Along with me not being pro race change.

It certainly make him more interesting as a character. Regardless of whether you agree with it, the radical leftist interpretation of Bruce as a selfish rich white guy beating up poor minorities to gratify his own selfish desire for revenge, it is a fascinating interpretation (with some merit). Making Bruce mixed race certainly takes away such interesting interpretations and limits the exploration of themes relating to wealth in America. These characters are archetypes and changing Bruce's race dilutes his archetype.

With respect to Gordon, I actually think Gordon being black adds to the character. It certainly goes hand-in-hand with his modern portrayal as an outsider in the department, a lone good cop who doesn't fall in with the corrupt group think. Given the current issues about policing and race in North America, and particularly the US these days, I think Gordon being black adds a wonderful topicality and a fresh modern spin on the character that is well-suited to our current times.

I don't want a connection to our current times.

I think similarly as someone else here, that I think the character doesn't have to be white to have those things.

Because you’re being negative about everything, you hate all the casting, the suit, whatever. Comes off like negative for negatives sake. And the movie doesn’t owe us anything either. There are things I’d like to see but I’m flexible and I’m open to anything they come up with, because it’s their art. It has nothing to do with racism, rather than changing the dynamics for the sake of it, because to me at least, people aren't allowed to live and suffer their own consequences, it's all about pushing agenda's and making statements. If they race swapped batman, it would be too political and would ruin it.

Are there black actors who could be a good Bruce Wayne, acting how Bruce Wayne acts - I would hope so, but would that be a true reflection, because we are all different, our cultures our experiences build us - especially in America - what does it mean to be black, with old money and a billionaire in America - does someone like that exist? I personally do't know... Or would changes have to be made?

Who would I use as a black Actor for Bruce Wayne - Donald Glover - but would he work as Batman, only after a lot of gym sessions lol and lifts but the back story, anyways... it's deep.

Why's it so negative to have preferences and to not like castings and such? I didn't say the movie owed me things. I think you're suggesting by I think, to me, trying to stamp out my personal issues with this movie, that I should accept the movie as is, like I owe it to the movie by the nature of existing. I haven't done that to the filmakers of this movie/cast. I've vocalized my issues on a forum. I haven't told you that you should want it either or tried to stamp out your perspectives on liking it, as far as I know. I think it's applying a double standard to do what I think you're doing and say this to me.
