Jesse Ventura: The Official Thread

None of the Above is not an option though
look at our election this year...Bush HAS to leave office.

What happens if None of the Above won

We actually would either be without a president, or a minority candidate might take it as second place.

If none of the above won, I'd laugh. Plus, it'd be a long deserved owning of the candidates

I think a big part of this whole thing is that most Americans want to feel like they could do the job.....America still has a problem with people that are smarter than them....they'd rather vote for someone they can relate to as opposed to someone who will tell them what the best way to do things are

I was listening to Jesse Ventura during a radio interview the other day, and this was one of his points. He was talking about the idea of putting a "None of the above" option on the presidential ballot. By using this option, you would be participating in the democratic process, yet voicing a different opinion. A vote of "No Confidence" in any cadidate on the ticket. What are your thoughts on this idea?

Jesse Ventura has been watching Richard Pryor & John Candy "Brewster's Millions" ;)

We already have that option

Its a vote for an irrelevant, insignificant third party candidate.

I really hope he makes his long overdue presidential run in 2012. Odds are whatever candidate the Republicans put up will be just as bad as Obama. Ventura can't win, but he can possibly garner enough support to be included in the debate and I would LOVE to see that. Ventura for all his shortcomings (and there are many) is a very smart man who is not afraid to call out establishment. It would be something to see.

Anyhow, here's an article about his recent walk off from Opie and Anthony.

New York Daily News (can't post the link because the video is attached and the video is no no for the Hype) said:
Don't invite Jim Norton and "Conspiracy Theory" host Jesse Ventura to the same party.

Ventura and Norton verbally sparred on Wednesday's "Opie & Anthony" show on Sirius AM Radio and things got so heated Ventura walked off the show.

The two fought over the use of the US military, which kicked off over Ventura's thoughts on 9/11, which he questions what the Government has said.

"We have not been told the truth," Ventura said, asking Norton to calm down.

"If your not going to let me talk, I'm out the door," Ventura said to Norton as they argued over going to war.

"You've been talking the whole time, all you do is yell over people," Norton shot back.

Norton then explained his position, while Ventura sat quietly.

"That was a fair point I just made, you were wrong when you said that," Norton said.

"I don't know, I didn't listen," Ventura said.

Twenty minutes later, as the debate raged, Ventura got up to leave. Norton told Ventura he was sulking.

"There a f-ing guy here telling me I've got a schedule a--hole," Ventura said.

"You're using dirty language, a--hole," Norton responded.

Ventura slapped Norton's shoulder as he left.

"Thanks for touching me with your f---ing stupid Riff Raff from f---ing 'Rocky Horror' hairdo," Norton shot back.

"You're bigger and stronger than me, so what, I don't give a sh--, you want to beat me up, go ahead."

Ventura, whose show airs on TruTV, stood quietly while Norton continued to rip on him.

"Thank you for your serice," Ventura said, saluting Norton, as he left.

"F---ing baby," Norton said. "Big f-ing guy who doesn't like the little guy yelling."

Y'know, I get that Ventura is a bit of an attention ****e, but the man was a former US Governor. You would never see any other governor current or former go on a radio program and have to endure the badgering and scream overs of a fourth rate comedian like Jim Norton. I get the nature of Opie and Anthony, but someone like Tom Ridge or Howard Dean would never be asked to endure this. I think he is very often treated unfairly by the media, though I will admit, it is partially his fault.

I like Ventura's independence from other political parties, and the man speaks his mind and often tells how it is. He is probably true in some of his allegations, although most seemed a bit outlandish to be factual. I'd love to see him participate in a presidential debate with Obama and a GOP presidential hopeful (Palin would be hilarious if she's the one).

Still, when one agrees to appear on a show on satellite radio, it's not going to be like appearing on Larry King

I agree with that, and acknowledged he should've been aware it comes with the territory, but with any other former governor even Opie and Anthony wouldn't allow an idiot like Norton to pull that crap.

I'd love it. Obama is not much of a debater, plus he's not very good at being put on the spot, which the Body would do in a heart beat, ten times harder than McCain could ever dream of. Plus Jesse Ventura and Palin just makes me laugh. What Biden did to her, she would be praying for against Ventura.

An Obama-Ventura-Palin presidential debate would be a disaster for democracy, but I would gladly pay a week's wages to see such a spectacle.

I don't listen to Opie and Anthony at all, as I prefer Howard Stern. But from what I've gathered, Norton has been on the show since '99, and a member of the show since '04. They know what they're going to get from him

I think it would be an asset to our Democracy. The current debate system allows idiots like Palin to glide through without being challenges and allows a weasel like Obama to sneak his way through on non-answers without being truly called on it. Ventura would tear them apart for that crap and would have absolutely zero issue breaking the rules of the debate and calling them on it and that is just what we need.

Its my understanding that Norton is simply a contributor and is not always on the show. At any rate, I am sure the hosts could've reigned Norton in for an episode and told him to show some respect. That is common sense. Of course, there's no point in arguing with you Add. One could say the sky is blue and you would argue for the sake of argument. So, yeah, have a good day.

Jesse Ventura is sort of a political hero of mine, the one politician who closely matches me in terms of ideology (and I'm not even American): a libertarian-leaning conservative, who dislikes organized religion, criminalizing private morality, high taxes but who generally supports gay rights.

But he treads dangerously close to being a 9/11 conspiracy believer, and if he ever went full board with that I would stop taking him seriously at all.

The reason it's a disaster for democracy is that such a predicament would be like handing Obama a second term on a silver platter, with a popular but no-hope 3rd party candidate and an obviously incompetent Republican. I like Obama, but winning elections on a cakewalk is a recipe for corruption.

Ah, I see. I agree with that entirely.

As for him being a conspiracy theorist, I think he plays it perfectly. He doesn't go around saying that there were not planes or that Repitilian aliens orchestrated the event to establish a new world order (I miss TheSumofGod :() but he does say we do not know the whole story and would like a deeper look taken, which I think many Americans would agree with.

I like Obama, but I'd welcome a bulldog like Ventura on the same debate platform as he does. It's a challenge that I think he needs to sharpen his debating skills, even if it will make him look bad in the process.

I don't share Ventura's assertion that 9/11 was in part orchestrated by the Feds, but I do think it should be investigated at a deeper level than it has been. I also want to know if Ventura is right when he said that 5 of the 20 hijackers in 9/11 have not be declared "dead" by the Feds, even after all these years (I listened to his interview on 710 ESPN a week ago).

To be completely honest, I would really enjoy a Ventura presidential campaign run. It would be very interesting to see what he could bring to the table.

I know none of this man's stances on anything. Is there a website or something listing them out?

Thanks much. Most of those seem 8 years or more old so I'd be interested to know if his positions have changed at all. I'd also like to know if he supports the Fair Tax.

I think he has stayed pretty much the same on the issues. I'm not sure of his standing on the Fair Tax issue. He is a left-leaning libertarian though which gets a  in my book.

I like the idea of Jesse Ventura, but I would hate to see him actually run for President. He would destroy the third party notion forever by being all style and no substance.

He was a guest from '99 on, then became the third member of the show in '04 and has guest hosted at times. I'm just a guy that doesn't think being a former office holder warrants "respect". The person currently holding office, I'll grant that.

Yeah he would make it a circus act as much as I like him.

He did make Tony Schiavone sound good way back when, so he's obviously capable of most anything.
