Action-Adventure John Wick: Chapter 4

Mixed news on the JW front for me. Too late to make it back for tonight but now arranged to watch on a weekend with my sister (biggest Keanu fan, biggest Matrix fan) who I’ve not been to the cinema with in absolutely ages. Saw the original Matrix films at Leicester Square openings with her so it means a lot.

The action in this movie was insane wow. What a great quadrilogy. I dunno what to do with my life anymore.

It was so fulfilling.
Wow, a Five Heartbeats gif. Deep cut for me!

I thought it was a clever bit of marketing to

not title the film "the Final Chapter" or something to signal that this was the end. Everyone's going to go in to this assuming that there will be more Wick in the future and no idea this is his last hurrah. Btw, I absolutely think it was the right choice to end his journey here, I did not want this series to needlessly milk itself with 5,6, 7 installments. I'm sure the Wick world will continue in other movies/tv series but for Wick himself it was time for his story to come to a close.

So I haven't seen it myself yet, but...

Is he definitively dead for real? Or is it one of those sort of 'ambiguous' type ones that has room for them to work around and that could result in him being resurrected later down the line if they were to decide to make any more?

It felt very ambiguous to me. It wouldn't feel wrong if it was left there, but it also felt open.

I wouldn't call it ambiguous, but it is also done in a way that when John Wick 5 happens, it isn't going to be some major weird retcon

Another movie is totally happening. He's totally alive and he's going to show up in the spin offs and then get his next film. This is no different than the Mission Impossible or the Fast and Furious movies. In fact I can see Keanu showing up at the end of Ballerina like

Also I would probably have rated the movie higher if I bought the ending.
