Action-Adventure John Wick: Chapter 4

I rewatched it the other night right after I saw Chapter 4 and I was shocked at how subdued it is. It is much less stylized and it plays more like a thriller than an action film. I had not seen it in a while. It's still my favorite too. It might not have the best action but it is much more character-driven: Keanu Reeves shows emotions!

Agreed that the first film is the best. Along with being more serious and simple, it is also more realistic.

Really enjoyed JW4, but the series has obviously gotten more and more "over the top" and is now somewhat parodic of itself. I also agree that JW4 could have benefitted from trimming even just 10 minutes from its runtime. Things start to get repetitive, like a video game.

Thug Fight, Boss Fight, Thug Fight, Boss Fight, Side Mission, Boss Fight, Chase Scene, Thug Fight, Boss Fight, etc...

Finally got my tickets booked!! (Sat)

The cinema listings were weird as weekend showings were only visible when you search for the whole cinema branch for a particular day. When you search under the film in question for that cinema it only shows up to Thursday. Must be some kind of glitch.

Not that anyone needed to know all that lol, getting this sorted has been a bit of a mission for me but great to finally get it all confirmed. My brother in law has decided to come too. He didn't initially want to as he wasn't up to date but is planning to watch all 3 films before Sat now. :D

OMG this was glorious.

Definitely the best of the series.
I didn't read any spoilers but I had an inkling that this might be the last one based on the runtime. Not counting spinoffs, at least. The fight sequences were amazing as always, the dragon's breath shootout and the staircase fights really stood out. I'm gonna miss ol' John Wick but he really went out on a high note.

He ain’t dead.

Finished my re-watch if the first 3 movies and yeah. While I enjoyed 3 more than in the cinema, it's still the worst for me. 2 grew on me quite a bit since my last viewing, but the first movie is still the best for me. Seeing number 4 tomorrow night and hoping I enjoy it as much as others have.

So I'm probably reading too much into this, but regarding the german shepard:

Anyone read it as 'Tracker' taking this dog from Halle Berry's character? Considering how all the other players suffered by helping Wick, she went on the run and was tracked down. Or perhaps they are related.

Well this was bonkers in all the best ways. I am still processing it all but definitely the 2nd best in the franchise behind the first one but that may change with another viewing as there is so much going on it's hard to catch everything.

9/10

Totally agreed. I'm still processing from Tuesday.

My initial thought is that it's the second best of the saga. I will say that it wasn't one of the best action movies ever, but it was friggin great. Can't wait to watch again.

Watched this earlier today. What an absolutely bonkers experience.

Seeing Charon die makes Lance Reddick's passing even more heartbreaking. And I was left sort of confused as to how they handled John's death at the end, since I've heard talks of Lionsgate wanting a fifth movie down the line? Not sure how you can make that work unless it's retconned.

I think it'd be pretty easy, honestly. We see him collapse, then post-funeral. Never see him go in the ground. Winston's response to "Where is he, heaven or hell?" is "Who knows?" I think it would be easy to say that Winston faked his death because, as was stated at the outset of the movie, he would only find peace in death.

He and Caine also had a couple of cryptic exchanges beforehand that made me doubt as well.

Can’t talk right now but safe to say, it blew past all expectations. :coolguy:

Osaka was an amazing way to start. My favourite action parts aside from that were the stairs and the top down camera part. The action through all these films is on another level but goes into orbit in these parts. Caine was MVP. This needs to be seen again many times!!

Ah, stayed away from spoilers fully for this (and thanks to this thread for making that easy), so didn’t realise there was a post-credit scene. Decent?

Edit: Seen now :cwink:
