Supergirl Jon Cryer is Lex Luthor

If you set something up then you need to deliver. They teased us with Superman for so long then delivered, given all the hints to Lex aswell as the young Lex, it makes sense to deliver on adult Lex.

They havent set Lex up to come on....he is simply in Lenas backstory, of course he would be mentioned.

I disagree, he gets brought up practically everytime Lena and her Mother are together. They've shown us young Lex, I think it's definitely setting up for an adult Lex payoff. I think next time Superman appears (which I reckon will be Season 3) there'll be Lex too.

CW shows are known for laying seeds for future things aswell. Th hints start small and begin to grow, it's happened on Arrow and the Flash a lot.

So does my mother, and sister, etc when I'm talking with family. It is a natural thing...and considering the fact that the major reason Lillian hates the Super cousins so much is because she blames Superman for all of her sons wrong doings...so of course she would bring him up. IMO, it would be a waste of time and money on their part. I would much rather that $$$ be spent on some good Supergirl kicking arse. :) She has had far too much screen time taken as it is, the cup is running over with guest stars.

I don't think it would be a waste of money at all. It could help further develop Lena's arc for one.

End of the day the show is Supergirl's and I agree she has had too much time taken away, but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be subplots where she isn't the focus. They just shouldn't happen as often or as dominantly as they have this season but they should still exist.

The hints about him for me show that they're setting up a future appearance, it's Berlanti formula all over it.

Kind of bumping an old discussion but how about Harry Lloyd (Viserys "Dany's brother" Targaryen from Game Of Thrones)?

Never say never, but Andrew Kreisberg says they will never have Lex Luthor on "Supergirl"

"According to the showrunner, the same can be said for Superman's biggest foe, Lex Luthor. While the character has appeared as a child in season two flashbacks,
Kreisberg reassures that there are no plans for him to enter the present day - instead choosing to focus on Lex's sister, Lena (Katie McGrath).
"I’m not sitting around wishing we could have another Luthor on the show." Kreisberg revealed. "We have the best one. We have great things in store for her."

Carry on.

I don't buy it.

These shows have burned through so many DC characters in the form of regular, recurring, guest star roles, and cameos, it's almost laughable to me that Lex-- in any form-- is just a "Nah, we already have Lena."

Putting Lex in jail for life does give them an easy way out for having to explain why Lex never shows up though. And with Maxwell Lord in season one and Morgan Edge in season three, it does make having Lex on sort of redundant.

If they're not going to bring in Lex Luthor, then they shouldn't tease him in the flashbacks.

With all due respect to Lena, she isn't Lex.

I would love to see Supergirl go up against Superman's number one villain and see how she does. I think that could be good for her development as a character.

A hero is only as good as the villain they go up against.

Kreisberg didn't say they'd "never" have Lex, he said they currently have no plans for him. Which is what they always say until they make plans. He may not show up this season, but at some point on down the line, when they're looking for a new storyline for Lena and have exhausted everything they can think of with her relationship with Lillian, Lex will certainly be brought up in that writers' room, and eventually they'll say, "yeah, maybe it's time."

So Lex has apparently been cast (at 1:05)...

People are saying Melissa just started following Christopher Meloni on Instagram, so I guess that's a possibility? He's the same age as Brenda Strong though, so I have my doubts there.

If it's Michael Rosenbaum as Lex, I will faint hard!!

I don't expect it to be anyone from Smallville.

Her saying that makes me think it’s someone we know from a previous CB TV show or movie but then again maybe she’s just excited cause it’s a really well know actor.

:hmm

I’m not thrilled about this casting but let’s actually give him the chance to show us what he can do.

I forgot he was in Superman 4!

Wow. Well , I've literally been watching him and liked him since I was a child in the 1980s.

So, I have alot of positive and fond memories of him. He's not the first person who comes to mind when I think of Lex, and I would think he's pretty close in age to his Mom(Brenda Strong).

That said, I'm gonna give him a chance in role.

Definitely plan on giving him a chance.
It’s just a funny casting choice that I never would have imagined.

My main worry is that they’re going for another goofy Lex.
