Superman Returns Kevin Smith Makes Fun Of Superman Returns!

Yeah....I think alot of the INCREDIBLE BUDGET was just money that WB had wasted on failed projects, like TimBurton, for example. Kevin Smith says that Burton got paid like $10 million (not sure Exactly, I'll have to check) just for inking the contract. God knows how much Nick Cage got too, for a film that essentiall never happened.

This is stupid. He didn't make fun of SR. One way or another he is merely making fun of how ****ed his movie Superman Lives almost was because of Peters and Burton. He said nothing about the quality of this movie but merely implied that it was better than what his Superman Lives would have been.

He didn't give his opinion on the film itself though. This is just a negative spin job by the studio. Meh.

Kevin Smith has been looking forward to SR for a while...haven't heard his thoughts on the film though.

Wow, just WOW. You must have taken a really bad beating somewhere in your pathetic history. :(

I've been wondering that myself. I checked his NewsAskew web-site but couldn't find anything.

Hey. I saw the ad they're talking about, it's YouTubed everywhere (and NO, it's NOT the Kevin Smith lecture about Jon Peters).

It´s this one here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSygBL_j83s

Funny! It's not a bad mock, it's a mild-mannered mock.

Fox News is distorting the truth, as ever.

Well, as cocky as he is, Smith ISN'T an untouchable writer or DIRECTOR for that matter. It's not saying much when the last great movie you made was in 1995. I completely respect his over-dialogued resurrection of Green Arrow, but seriously, he's not a major-leaguer anymore!

I agree....Smith is just bitter. He is hasn't made a goiod film in five years....and who knows if he ever will again.

From the viewaskew forums...

Hey Smith, what do you think about SUPERMAN RETURNS...
... and Brian Singer just recreating Donner's universe rather than daring to try something new, perhaps more akin to the modern day Superman comics since the 80s reboot?
by NeoDevilbaneX

- I’m really curious to see how it all balances out. If it’s the Donner-verse, then is Lex Luthor the Gene Hackman/buried in the sewers/Otis-sporting Lex, or is he the current billionaire baldy bad-ass we all know and love from the John Byrne reboot? Personally, I wish they’d gone with the purple-suited, mad scientist super-criminal version.

But Singer’s alright in my book. That second “X-Men” picture was one of the three greatest comic book movies ever made, in my opinion.

That's all I found.

It's sad that Kevin Smith makes a remark about HIS Superman, and stupid FOX news of all companies spins it on Superman Return. And then to make things worse, ALL the Kevin Smith bashing is taking place when the guy really doesnt deserve it. FOX NEWS needs to be boycotted, blocked and banned.

LOL:joker: This is very funny. I was laughing throughout the whole video. I can't believe WB was thinking of giving their prized franchise to someone that has no clue about the project his working on. The man didn't even do any kind of research on the character. His version would be worst than Batman and Robin.

I laughed like crazy when Kevin Smith brought up Wild Wild West.

well never the less, no matter what Kevin Did say at his website, he still if an over rated writter and director.... I give him credit, Clerks was a fun movie, the dialogue was catchy and smart, in a geek kind of way, but that is where I jump off the Smith ban wagon, Mallrats was a terrible piece of garbage, come on Shannon Dougherty was in it, the only redeaming aspect was the chick with three nipples, Chaising Amy is such crap, the Oh, that's right OXYGEN, the channel for women going through Menopause, plays it all the time.... Dogma was ok the first time I watched it, but every viewing since then has been met with yawns..... Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back..... come on, you know your running low with ideas when you take the comic relief from your first four films and rehash it, in it's own movie, again, only redeaming aspect is Shannon Elizabeth in her tight outfit wearing her nerd glasses...... now her comes Jersey Girl..... a straight up chick flick that tried selling itself based on the popularity of Bennifer.... if Kevin had half a brain, he should have realized that this movie had Gigli funk all over it..... no one wanted to see Ben and Jen in the same movie, heck no one wants to see them in different movies, the only redeaming aspect of that movie is, Liv Tyler in the shower in a wet bra........

People on here have every right to rip on Smith, he made a freaking movie about people like us who bash movies....

and the point is, if kevin smith was quoted as saying SR is the greatest comic book movie ever, a large % of the same pple would be saying "smith rules, hes the greatest"

the point is, that he's not some great director or writter, he's not above critizing, I don't give a **** if he tells me that I am god in his eyes, I would still tell him he's a average filmaker.....

Kevin Smith loved "Revenge of the Sith," so his opinion as a movie critic means about as much to me as George W. Bush's stance on stem-cell research.

Im not suggesting he is. but read this whole thread. would you not agree that a % of the "smith sux" posts are simply because of the misconception that he took the piss out of SR?

I got so pissed that I just ordered the MALLRATS 10th ANNIVERSARY EDITION DVD. Damn yousa, Kevin Smith! Damn yousa all to hell!

Very misleading title.

Yup..

Wtf with the title of this thread when it isn't even true..
Goes to show you how gullible people can be.

If you actually watch that clip of the puppets for Clerks 2, it even promotes Superman Returns as they promote Clerks 2 as well.
How?? Well don't they mention if you are going to see one movie this year, it's going to be Superman? Also after that first scene, doesn't Superman's Theme come on?? How much more support can it give?? Sheesh..
It still manages to make fun of Jon Peter's version of Superman.. Hehe

The title of this thread should be "How Fox blindly makes statements and misleads the public , ie, Kevin Smith Makes fun of Superman Returns!"
