Kick Ass 2 announcement coming soon - Part 1

In regards to the deleted scenes, SOME of them should have stayed, the Big Daddy scene should have been shot and put into the movie, and the other scene I really liked was Dave telling his dad in the prison that his dad was the real super-hero.

Would have made his last words to him more touching, especially after being a dick to him a little earlier. Other than that non of the deleted scenes really impressed me that much. I wouldnt mind seeing a DC someday though.

I thought the scene with Colonel Stars & Stripes dog should've stayed in, along with the actual training scene & ones you mentioned.

Also, how lame is it that we got the infamous "Avengers, Assemble" line in Kick-Ass before an actual Avengers movie?

You mean the dog being in the final battle? Yeah that would have been a good one to keep in as well. A bit more Colonel Stars & Stripes wouldnt have gone amiss, but non of them were essential to the plot, just would have been nice to see more of the character.

Yeah that is pretty poor.

Well that too, but the extended montage of them at the shelter. This movie was too short.:cmad:

Yeah I wouldnt have minded that included at all, I do agree the movie should have been longer, but it didnt drag in any places at the same time.

I think equalling the 1st movies length would have made the movie better overall with more character development and dramatic scenes. But the movie we got focused on Dave, Mindy and Chris which is what was expected.

Also, Vaughn should've stayed. No offense to Wadlow, because while KA2 wasn't bad...yeaaah.

I recommend you guys watch the extended/deleted scenes with Jeff Wadlow's commentary. I was upset at some of the cuts at first but he eloquently explains why the scenes were cut. Initially, Wadlow had the idea that Kick-Ass had been active in the four years since the first movie and shot scenes accordingly. Mindy resented Dave for not training enough and getting his ass kicked over and over. Wadlow later changed this and that's why the alternate opening, the training scene and more didn't work anymore. The extended battle scene with Eisenhower was cut because too many jokes would soften the threat and make the finale less effective.

Other scenes were just unnecessary, too expensive to finish or cut for pacing.

I was expecting a disaster when Wadlow was hired but he surprised me, as I think he did a lot of us. I think he has potential as a director and if Vaughn has truly moved onto bigger things I would not mind Wadlow returning for a possible 3rd movie.

I agree with most of this, but if there is ANY chance that Vaughn would come back I would love to see it happen. KA2 was good and a surprise to me as well, but it doesnt touch the 1st movie.

I just think little things like the extended talk between Dave and his dad at the prison could have made a big difference to the movie. It would have made it more heartfelt and emotional, which to me are two things which make good movies what they are. KA2 is good, but I dont think it will stand up to repeat viewings because of a lack of those 2 things.

I see this movie made some critics worst Top 10 list for the year. Really? I can see how it may not be for everyone, and the tone can be offensive, but the acting and production values were in no way horrible.

Oh I agree. The first Kick-Ass had the perfect balance of humor, action and heart. If KA3 happens it will most likely be directed by Jeff Wadlow again because Vaughn is simply too busy and too BIG to be working on something like this.

I know critics aren't the be-all and end-all but their attitude towards both movies says a lot. The first movie was universally loved with 4 and 5 star reviews all over the internet. The second movie kind of went by without leaving a trace.

Thats no surprise, for me, the critics got it wrong on a number of movies this year, and this is coming from someone who normally agrees with them. KA2 wasnt amazing or anything but I have seen much worse movies this year and KA2 should have gotten about 40-50% on RT for me.

See my response above, the critics were off the boil this year, they were so wrong on KA2, MOS and one other movies i cant remember. IM3 shouldnt have gotten as good reviews as it did either.

I have no problem with Wadlow returning if we get KA3, which I really hope we do.

I thought the MOS reviews were fair, but I'm still puzzled why KA2 got panned so badly. Sincerely hope a third is made to round off the story.

I just watched it and I loved it, I hope we get Part 3.

Cant agree on MOS, I loved it and it gets better with repeated viewings. Agree on KA2 though, it got worse reviews than the likes of FF2, X-Men 3, XMO: Wolverine and is much better than movies of that ilk.

KA2 was easy to hate. While I really like it and I am desperate for a third film, it is not hard to see why critics hated on the sequel. It is not nearly as well made a film as the first, while also being far more offensive. The first film offend some people's sensibilities, but it was so good that its quality won out. KA2 isn't that good and thus it is easy to fall back on the "in bad taste" argument.

^Surely it should have gotten some sympathy from a very unexperienced director taking over though. And its not like it was a bad movie, it simply wasnt in my eyes, I have seen much worse get better reviews.

I watched the extended warehouse scene and it shows one thing very clearly: Wadlow's script is fantastic.
Nearly nothing here comes out of nowhere. "Sick Stick" and Eisenhower ("I know how i get this started" - fantastic) was introduced earlier in the movie. It's like the way Hit-Girl kills the black guy ("Don't worry i'm the girl who can kill a guy with his own fingers."). There are so many little great moments in this movie.

I got this for Christmas and didnt see this in theaters and I'm mad I did not, it would have been nice to gauge audience reaction. I really enjoyed this film after sleeping on it I just want to get the comics and read kickass 3, I loved the action humor and sexiness of this movie. So damn good.

That moment was great, loved the foreshadowing of it earlier as well, and then actually get to see it in the finale. Wadlow has real potential as a director, this movie showed that for me. Though I hope we get a DC of it someday.

The original: I like that the filmmakers took the time to tell a story. Even if they could've done a little more with it.

2: Much crazier and less realistic than the original. I don't mind that.

The problem is that the movie goes through plot points like a checklist. Most of it just feels perfunctory. A lot of things happen, but there's no real impact.

I liked most of the performances, though.

^I dont get the complaint that the sequel was less realistic than the original, I love the original, but are people forgetting Dave flying to the top of a sky scraper with a jet-pack with gattling guns attached to it?

And the fact that a 13 year old girl killed countless grown men.

This x100

I was the only one in my group of friends who liked this. And a lot of them cited the fact that they thought it was unrealistic.

idk I feel like all the problems this one had were present in the first movie already. So to people who liked the first one, I'm surprised they disliked this one as much as some did

Yeah, I love the 1st movie, its amazing but to say the sequel was less realistic is ridiculous when a lot of things in the 1st movie were anything but realistic. I would say every action seen in KA2 was more realistic than a lot of the finale of the 1st movie, so the 'more unrealistic' complaint just doesnt wash with me.
