This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]318641[/split]
It's pretty shocking that it has taken this long for a sequel to get a move on, but finally Columbia Pictures is gearing up for GHOST RIDER 2, the sequel to the smash-hit comic book adaptation from 2007 that saw Nicolas Cage as a stunt motorcyclist Johnny Blaze who gives up his soul to become a hellblazing vigilante, to fight against power hungry Blackheart, the son of the devil himself. What we learned this evening is that Columbia Pictures is officially out to writers to pen the sequel and that Nicolas Cage is in fact attached and signed on to return.
I guess the fact that I have no attatchment to the Ghost Rider character/series and the fact that Nicolas Cage is teaming up with the guys who made Gamer and Crank 2 leaves me in a position where I'm perfectly comfortable with the movie being campy or ridiculous or over-the-top. But I do like the fact that they're going for something more Gothic than the first movie. As we all know, Ghost Rider: Spirits of Vengeance is filming in Romania, especially in a lot of castles and cathedrals. Then I really think that Neveldine and Taylor are going for a truly Gothic and dark tone.

I am hoping for improvements too. I liked the first one, but it could have been much, much better. Fingers crossed the sequel is better.
I only saw the movie once when it was theaters but from what I remember I always cracked up when that one generic villain who was always sweating showed up.I agree, Mephisto was pretty ******. So was Blackheart. They boned the villains pretty bad
The first film had a terrible and cliche plot, terrible fights scenes (GR beat everyone way too easy), terribly unfunny comedy (WTF was up with the monkeys, the 8 ball, the candy, etc), and was just overall terribly written. MEPHISTO JUST STANDS LIKE AN IDIOT AS HIS FIRST GR RUNS AWAY IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION WHEN HE CAN TELEPORT!!! What kind of writing is that? Then later on, he says "Give me the power back" Johnny says "No" and he just screams and leaves...again, like an idiot. What kind of devil is this
My expectations for this are very low.

No doubt there is truth in that statement but the first one wasn't a financial stinker so they are optimistic this could be a franchise.SONY's ONLY making this film in a feeble attempt to keep the Ghost Rider rights away from Marvel Studios.
With Mephisto though, it was made pretty obvious that he didnt have much power on our plane, hence why he had to send the Ghost Rider after anyone escaped from hell. Even Blackheart says to him, "We both you cant harm me here." when they encounter each other on Earth.
