Ghost Rider 2 In The Works - Part 1

Ghost Rider is not some cheesy Crank-esque flick.

Who's to say it will be? The thing about Crank that always got me was the visual creativity of the directors. They know how to shoot action, and give it a very frantic, break-neck feel that suits a character like Ghost Rider. As one poster pointed out, they do a similar scene from the first Ghost Rider that's a lot quicker and a lot more brutal, and there's a feel too it that the original film didn't capture. The road chase with him hooking that car and pulling it into the air was fantastic. There's more attention to practical action, rather than CG-ing stuff that need not be CG. There's a far more engaging feel to the action already, that we didn't get in the first film.

There shouldn't be metal music playing,

Why not?!? Sorry, but that makes no sense to me. Metal music is EXACTLY what should be playing for a supernatural biker with a flaming skull!!

there should be no Nic Cage (I like him, but this just isn't for him),

One thing I'll say about Cage is that his heart is in it. He's a big comic fan, and I actually love his first transformation in the first film where there's this transition of him in pain, then him pretty much reveling in turning into Ghost Rider, as if to represent the joy of the actual spirit of Ghost Rider being unleashed. I could see plenty of other actors I'd WANT to see as Ghost Rider, but I certainly don't mind him in the role.

and for crying out loud...Ghost Rider peeing fire? Really? I mean come on, really? :cmad:

I don't see a problem having some fun like that with the character, because honestly, it's like a nod to fans, some of whom I'm sure have asked that question of one another, even if they only did so jokingly.

This looks like a silly mindless teeny action flick. Ghost Rider is dark, serious, scary, and pretty much NOT that.

I don't know about you, but if this Ghost Rider stood in front of me, I'd be scared sh**less. It's a guy with a charred flaming skull for a head.

Yea, the scene in the first movie where Blaze first transforms is brilliant. The way Cage goes from screams of agony to a kinda, maniacal laughter is awesome.

Agreed 100%!

I remember the day they released that clip. I watched it over and over again. Bits of his skin popping off and sizzling like frying bacon was hilariously awesome. Loved it and even if the movie wasn't the best it had a lot of really cool bits.

It's not my cup of tea. The last part with the "piss" joke sealed the deal that I won't be watching it in theaters. The effects do look good, however.

I laughed at the flaming piss. I don't care.

Yea, GR had a few good moments. Like the part where he rides down the sky scraper and smashes into the ground. Or when he is underwater with that elemental and turns the tables on him all of a sudden.

Their choice of reused "Island" music for the trailer is definitely lame but this could really be an awesome GR film.

Ya know I didn't mind that. That music really fit the mood of the first Ghost Rider trailer. So I was happy to see it again. Anyway, the trailer was good, definitely seems to be more action in this one. I'm more interested that I was before, like any trailer should make ya feel.

that trailer was siiick!... i knew these guys would direct this perfectly.
very few trailers have ever made me laugh... i gotta say i laughed at the pissing shot lol wasnt expecting that.

im glad these two guys are treating it more like there own films rather than a normal superhero film like the first crapfest.

cantwait

I'm not sold yet. The action sequences look great (and I do mean great- we got some UMVC3 air combos going on here), but after the first one, the story's more important. All I hear in the teaser is more hokey dialogue.

That trailer looks unbelievable. I actually enjoyed the first Ghost Rider (despite it's multitude of flaws) and this one looks to be leaps and bounds better. Very hyped right now!!

Can I get this shot as an avvy PWN3R. Trim so that it's just like him throwing the chain

I agree.

I'm looking forward to it as well.

And the other thing about Neveldine/Taylor, they know how to make the best use of their money.

They come from low budget movies, yet they pull off this insane action because they use practical effects and push everything to the limit.

If you honestly expect the ****ers that made Crank and Gamer to actually not make this physics-defyingly crazy, I don't know what to tell ya.

this is hokey dialoge might be forgivable as long as the movie delivers in action ...which the first failed to do (especially a climax)

Regarding the fire pissing, I think it's either for advertisement only, or maybe there will be a scene where Blaze and the family stop for a moment, Blaze goes to take a piss and the kid imagines Ghost Rider in his place, pissing fire, according to what Johnny told him. If it's the latter, it might be funny if executed well.

Exactly!!! They know the kind of movies they make and they make them well :woot:

I'm hoping Ghost Rider takes a piss on a bunch of guys. That'd be great.

The trailer makes it look like a cheesy flick..that's what says it. The action can be the best ever but that's not all I'm wanting from a Ghost Rider movie. Ghost Rider shouldn't come off as hokey.

Ghost Rider should have heavy choir, something epic and sometimes really grim. I liked Christopher Young's score (maybe not best suited for Ghost Rider, but still better than what's in the trailer). The only parts I didn't like is when it'd play like a rock guitar and drums. But what was perfect? When he transformed.
This is a character from hell. Let's not make "devil's music" actually MEAN devil's music and throw it in the trailer. It makes it sound and look generic. One thing I can't stand in films is when they use music like that. It's one of my biggest pet peeves. I like orchestrated music.

One thing I'll say about Cage is that his heart is in it. Yeah, he did do some great stuff in the first movie. I do like him. He just looks old now. Keep in mind, most of that first film was filmed in like, 2004/2005. He just doesn't look like he should be Ghost Rider anymore.

I don't see a problem having some fun like that with the character, because honestly, it's like a nod to fans, some of whom I'm sure have asked that question of one another, even if they only did so jokingly.

I'm a Ghost Rider fan and I never gave one **** about how he peed. Not like he's Ghost Rider 24/7, so they could leave the whole joke out. All it does is make me facepalm at how stupid and childish it comes off. Like, that really nails the coffin in the trailer.

I just don't think the trailer comes off as cheesy or hokey at all...save for the peeing part, but I'm pretty sure it's just a throw away trailer gag.

Ghost Rider looks pretty intense in all the scenes he's in from this trailer. Especially the screaming part.

I guess you would prefer more classic gags like Blaze drinking jelly beans from a martini glass and laughing like a moron at monkeys on TV. :P

Garth Ennis' Road to Damnation, probably the best Ghost Rider comic ever, had a character called Buttview. Named so because a demon shoved a guys head up his ass and kept him alive.

Again, Ghost Rider comics have always had a bit of mobid yet silly humour. So I don't see the problem with the pissing fire part, and I don't see how anyone who has read Ghost Rider comics can. I mean, we're not talking about a deadly serious character here. And if you think GR is a deadly serious character with no humour at all... I question whether you've actually read GR comics.

The movie is a guilty pleasure to me. Those things are stupid, but I chuckle at them. That's all in the past.
Now they have a chance to redeem it. And uh...

Morbid sense of humor.

pissing fire part

Plain stupid.

Loved the trailer!

Ghost Rider now has a menace to him with the blackened skull and black smoke.

Love the peeing fire at the end, Batman can't do that!
