The Dark Knight Known similarities between TDK and Batman '89

No I don't see what you did there

And the difference between me and everyone else is I know and they/you don't.

Turtlefocker is reliable on info and knows what he's talking about, I'll vouch for that.

On topic, another (semi) similarity is that '89 Joker wears make-up to look like a "normal" person while TDK Joker takes his make up off for the same purpose.

in B89 joker is in the street while batman in coming towards him in the batwing and the joker yells "come on you son of a *****, come one!"

In TDK the joker is in the street while batman is coming towards him in the batpod and joker is yelling "come on, HIT ME!"

both have the election of Dent as DA and both have Dent in his pre-scared form. in Forever it was only a 30 clip showing a pre-scared Dent. in TDK and B'89 dent is mostly unscared, in B'89 it was going to happen in a later film (Wikipedia) and in TDK the scarring happens at the end:huh: of the film?

He yells for Batman to hit him, as Batman rides quickly towards him on a super-cool vehicle in a demented game of chicken (in TDK, it's the Bat-Pod. In B'89, it's the Bat-Plane).

Ive noticed this one also. Nolan has much respect for Tim Burtons films, and although weirded out, they gave Nolan much of the groundwork to take to the next level with Batman Begins imo. So I very much enjoy the comradery he shows when he homages Burtons films subtly.

Wow. I dreaded coming into this thread, half expecting **** like "Can't we go five minutes without comparing the two:cmad:" and other *****fits. But it's been completely civil. Therefore, I'm proud to lend my two cents.

1. Both have Bats, Joker, and Harvey.

2. Both have stand off confrontations in the street where it's basically just, Joker and Batman.

3. Joker's takes control of the mob.

4. Joker ****s with Bruce's love interest indirectly.

5. Hell, both films have an Eckhart involved.

There's alot of other similarities just shots wise in that video. It didn't even dawn on me that the shot of bats on the roof was damn near the same as in 89. Also the clip with the batmobiles doing the exact same thing in the exact same way in the shot was crazy. The parallels are definitely there.

the difference is that batman89 focused on the joker while the dark knight will focus on batman. or so i hear anyways.

"If you want order in Gotham, Batman must take off his mask and turn himself in."

"I have taken off my makeup; let's see if you can take off yours."

You should read some of those reviews than my friend. If it doesn't focus on him, it sounds like he damn sure stole the show.

I agree, B89 had potential and Nolan took it to the next level.

to be honest there are quite a few similarities to these two films, but the reason is obvious.

Similarities between B89 and TDK?

Yeah..... B89 sucked while TDK wont. But that's not a similarity is it?

FLAME ON!

:hehe::hehe::hehe:

Im thinking had burtons films never existed, this new franchise would look so different.

i honestly don't understand how someone can hate on b89 but love tdk? i love b89. without it....we wouldn't even be here now.

do i think tdk will surpass it? indeed.

i think b89 stands the test of time better than any other batman film...including batman begins. although i think begins is a better film in some ways...i think b89 is far more memorable.

I honestly believe if B89 never existed, the entire superhero film genre would look very different. For the time and what was available, B89 was and is still a very awesome movie. BB & TDK are children of that movie, yes they are better, but inpart because B89 came before them. ANYONE that says B89 sucks is just looking to start an argument, there is no way they can be serious. I don't like people saying that TDK or BB pwns B89, there is no fair way to compare them, B89 was done almost 20 years ago. So much as changed in storytelling/actors/what the general public wanted out of films...no true way of fairly comparing them. As far as the "Battles of the Batman" clip...very good, I loved it. I know this is a similarity thread, but does anyone notice Alfred is the complete opposite of each other in the films. In B89 he was more a man-servant who "does not wish to spend the remaining years of his life mourning the loss of dear friends...and their sons", in BB & TDK, Alfred is more the respected advisor of Batman, he tells him when he is about to cross the line to being a vigilante, how he is the only one that can make the needed choice...its almost as if B89 was discouraging Batman while BB TDK is trying to encourage him.

My taste in films is absurd to many of you. I rate both Batman Returns and Batman & Robin higher than B89 with Batman Begins above them. With that said there is no denying that without B89 superhero cinema would be very different today. Daredevil, for instance, would be a very different movie without the ability to rip off B89.

Whoa whoa whoa! Turtle PLEASE explain the Batman and Robin love? You really thought that film was good?

Does the fact that B89 started it all mean that we have to like it? No it doesnt.

That said, i liked B89 a lot. I have some problems with it, but i like it. My previous post was made with tongue in cheek. I am surprised people didnt get that and started all this....

Last but not least, a reason why B89 could be more easy to remember or rewatch is because its more artistic and carefree than Begins. That said, Batman Begins and TDK (from what i hear at least) are 1000 times better movies IMHO. Oh and Chris....dude.... i know you only want to make three, but a fourth wouldnt be bad. Or a Batman Beyond movie!!!

All of you guys who bash B89 because you have a "shiny new toy" in TDK really amaze me. :whatever:
It's not like everyone loved Batman '89 until TDK dropped out of the sky. There are plenty of people who've disliked that movie for years, some even disliked it back when it came out. Nonetheless, I suppose this isn't the place for such talk either way, since there's a board where people are free to praise or bash it as they please.
