Kong: Skull Island - Part 3

Looked into getting IMAX tickets for this today, but I won't bother since it's in 3D as well. I'll just see it on the ultrascreen with dolby atmos. Box office doesn't look like it will do too well, I only saw 3 reserved seats taken in the 7:00 IMAX tomorrow night. Not good news. Still excited though!

Yeah I am skipping out on the Smithsonian 6-story 4k Laser IMAX since it's all 3D showings. My second viewing will be at my local Alamo Drafthouse in their larger format 4K theater with Dolby Atmos. Picking up this snazzy Mondo pint glass as well.

Damn this is still holding strong on RT at 81%. I'd love for it to stay there, but I have a feeling it's going to drop in the high 70's by tomorrow which would still be a great IMO. Also, as far as presales go it seems to being well enough on Movie tickets and Pulse, but Kong is totally going to be a walk-up movie since it skews a lot older than your average blockbuster. The latest tracking has it in the $45-$50M range and I would not be surprised if it reached the higher end of that range on walk-ups alone.

"Offering exhilarating eye candy, solid acting, and a fast-paced story, Kong: Skull Island earns its spot in the movie monster's mythos without ever matching up to the classic original."

I doubt any reselling will ever match the original but what we are hearing is that it will be a very enjoyable action romp. I have no problem with that what so ever.

Going based on what I've heard and circumstances I'll probably see it twice.

As much as I enjoyed Jackson's Kong, I had way more fun with Skull Island. This may be the best Kong since the original as far as enjoyment level is concerned.

Jackson's Kong might be the better film overall, but Skull Island is pure monster movie fun. It really did take me back to the 90's when I was watching stuff like Anaconda or Deep Blue Sea as a kid. Hell Deep Rising too and while I know those movies didn't get the best reviews from critics I love all three of them honestly. Some are taking stabs at it, because they didn't think it was anything more than popcorn entertainment, but I see nothing wrong that, especially considering how crappy the majority of Summer 2016 blockbusters were from last year.

Hope overseas helps it do well. I really wanna see Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020.

Appears to be.

Also, certified fresh.

I totally forgot this came out today. I might try to catch it tomorrow. If not, Tuesday at the latest.

4 and a half hours later, where's the detailed review? :D

I'm pretty sure Vision died of either infinite excitement or disappointing dread.

I was gonna watch it today, but allergies said otherwise.

I gave my son the option of seeing this or Logan this weekend. He chose Logan. Next week, my wife want's to see BATB. This film has been the victim of savage competition and scheduling. Still hoping to see it soon though.
