Kong: Skull Island - Part 3

I still remember that first trailer. How glorious it was.

And now these almost make the movie look like a parody.

Seriously?
Generic action movie trailer editing, yes. We've seen trailers like this a million times before.

Godzilla did a better job with marketing -- offering a unique tone and gravitas to its CGI monster (although the film offered a completely different atmosphere). These trailers don't offer much weight to Kong's presence, giving the impression that this is just a CGI-filled monster slugfest. That's not particularly interesting to many people.

I'm not optimistic about this being received well.

Showed too much, IMO.

This is why I avoid most trailers. If i've seen a trailer for the 1st time that's fine because they don't tell u much but all the trailers they release after that I tend to avoid.

I've been waiting for so long for a Kong movie that isn't a remake that the movie will have try to be bad for me not to like it :sly:

The cast is fantastic

For those who have a problem with the humorous tone you might be disappointed with the movie, because people who have already seen it at early screenings have said it does have ALOT of humor. Honestly, as much as I wish they kept the feel of the Comic-Con trailer, I think it will grow on me. This movie does look like a ton of fun and at this point all I want is a satisfying, action packed creature feature.

The first trailer is still the best. It had this atmospheric, dread filled tone. More like a horror movie.

These newer trailers... well the visuals look amazing for sure. But the tone is very different to the first trailer. Looks like a borderline action comedy.

I don't have a problem with humor being in this. I kind of already expected it.

What I'm concerned about is how it's handled/if it causes tonal inconsistencies within the film.

I don't think I can watch the trailer. It would just ruin the experience for me. It will be hard not to watch, though! Just 11 more days left.

Pennywise, don't give into temptation.

There's a lot of Kong and monster vs monster action in it, so not watching it is a good call.

OMG! I can't handle how absolutely fantastic this looks! :woot:

I liked the trailer. Made the other characters seem they'll be fun to watch too.

Yeah count me as another one who liked the trailer, I can't say no to Kong anyway but I like the look of this.

I' am just gad Brie has a line of dialogue this time round.

Is the film an absolute trash too or just the trailer?

I do agree the comedy was a little too much and seemed forced but that money shot at the end gave me goosebumps.

Didn't know you had a time machine, Boose. :o

I feel like they're trying to go the opposite route of how little they advertised Godzilla fighting with the MUTO's in G14, plus the general criticism of there being little of it in the film itself.

Problem is, they're going the extreme contrary this time around.

That's just one of the things about the modern era of film making unfortunately. Fans complain LOUDLY and OFTEN online. An new product comes along and it's very much in line with the fan outcry... Only now the online community complains just as vociferously about moving in the opposite direction, not getting that their over the top initial criticism is partially to blame for the studios' overcompensating. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Regardless of the tone, it looks as though Kong will be in full form the way I've wanted to see him portrayed on the big screen.

While I love John C. Reily, they probably should've gotten a lesser known character actor with a more understated comedic sensibility.

If the role was given to, someone like Stephen Tobolowsky (or even Tom Waits), and the lines were exactly the same, it would've been almost a different character tonally.

John is still my biggest worry with this. I really don't want to relive Jackson's Kong and like the majority of the film except for one character (played by an actor that was miscast) that someone ruined some of the overall experience for me.
