Chris Bumbray of Joblo.com gave it a 7/10 and seemed to really enjoy it.

I don't mind him as a person. He seems like a cool enough dude, and that's fine.

It's just lately I personally haven't agreed with a lot of his thoughts on movies. He has the right to his opinions, not faulting him for that. The BvS re-write he did, whatever your opinion of BvS may be, was not...good. It definitely didn't do him any good favors on the reaction front. Then again, most of those reactions were kinda extreme, but that's the way the Internet works I guess.
Not agreeing with him is of course fine. It is bring up the BvS rewrite of him as some sort of mark against him as a critic that holds no water for me. His re-write was no worse then the film. Which is what make the reaction rather funny imo.

You don't have to focus on all characters to give the majority their due. Great films usually do. The Empire Strikes Back is a pretty fantastic example of this. Good recent examples are films like Fury Road and Civil War.

This argument bothers me because it is the same one used for Godzilla.

As someone who liked Godzilla, I can tell you I didn't give one single s*** about any character in that movie except for Bryan Cranston's character and Ken Watanabe's to a lesser extent.

I have my problems with that film too, but overall for me, the positives outweighed the negative.

If I am not invested in characters, a movie is rather boring to me. And unless it is hilariously bad (think Batman and Robin) I am going to check out. Liking Godzilla only got me so far last time and it hasn't aged well because of it.

If this is an island of people I don't care about, it will probably be a problem for me. With the 05 film, Naomi Watts and Kong were the only saving grace on that front for me. Thankfully, they were the center of the film.

This has nothing to do with King Kong's reviews, I don't have any skin in the film and thought it had a good chance of being garbage but I don't know why Chris Stuckmann is treated seriously on the interwebs? He seems like a very nice guy but I don't think he's a good, very insightful critic. I mean I disagree with moviebob at least 55% of the time but at least his reviews are smart and insightful for the most part.

I can't stand watching moviebob, I don't know how other people do it. And he's a pretty big hypocrite who likes to jump on bandwagons.

He was pretty much laying in bed with Devin Faraci, MovieBob used to parrot everything Faraci would say.

I've thought the same thing myself. Moviebob (whom I actually agree with far more than not) always makes me think, and I feel like I discover/learn something after each one of his videos. Stuckman seems like a nice guy, but he doesn't bring a lot to the discussion.

I won't be surprised if the movie ends up in the fifties with the way it has dropped. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

I agree with Darth that I do have to care about some characters in these types of films. I can't just not care about the characters like in Godzilla and Transformers.

The only fear with it dropping is the average score. 6.1 is pretty low after 31 reviews.

I mean at the end of the day it's just better to see the film to form your own opinion. If you don't care for the characters oh well, but you should atleast give it a chance. I know I've only seen it once, but this isn't a bad film IMO.

My discussion of the RT score has no bearing on my views of the film when I actually see it. RT discussion is a separate one for me.

May check this out, but also considering seeing Logan a second time next weekend with a friend of mine, but at least some of the reviews are promising.

Though I have to ask, since this is in the same universe...how is the 2014 Godzilla film? Didn't see it myself, but I hear really mixed things about it.

I liked Godzilla 2014...but its not for everyone

Collider put their review.

Summary: Kong Stuff good...human stuff bland

Well it was just Campea and his quick thoughts on it basically, but yeah.

I really liked it when I saw it in theaters. I haven't watched it since, so there's a chance I might like it a lot less now.

Seems like most people on here dislike it.

The people who really liked/loved Godzilla (like myself) are a small minority here on the forums. But we exist haha.

Eh fair criticism, but like I said before everybody will have a different opinion. He also stated that a lot of the comedy fell flat for him and there were only a few people giggling, but I can tell you right now that the experience was much different at my theatre. I don't know maybe seeing it with right crowd blinds you of a lot of problems, but I wasn't going into this to be critical. I just wanted to see Kong destroy helicopters and fight monsters and I got that for the most part. Sure the characters aren't anything special, but I kind of expected that in a movie like this. Atleast I wasn't bored.

Personally that's how I feel with these monster movies too, I am not too worried with human characters. I'm more so into these films for the action and monsters. If I get lucky and get amazing characters with my deadly creatures (like JAWS with Brody, Hooper and Quint) then of course I love that. But it's not a necessity for me and won't be a negative.

I'll be seeing this either way, but it will be interesting to see how the reviews go.

Any non-Marvel/Disney tentpole that can manage to get a RT score in the 70's is a success story.
