BvS Larry Fong is the cinematographer!

Well, it looks like Snyder must have dampened the colors for the final product because everything looked darker than it from previous footage.

You mean from the previous trailer?
It's totally normal since the black level was messed up.

I like the visual look of this more than MOS. Images feel sharper. Crisper.

Are (some) people really complaining about the cinematography here? It looks plain gorgeous, praise Larry Fong and Snyder for anamorphic 35 mm.

I don't think anyone has any problems with the actual cinematography. I think the issue that some of us have here is the choice of coloring (color filters) that Snyder has picked to douse his visuals/shots with.

Last time it was lack of colour, no it's the wrong filter. :D

Oh, I thought they were one in the same.lol

My bad if people are confused on where I stand. It's definitely the lack of color like I've mentioned before.

If people are complaining about the colour scheme and the visuals of BvS, expect the same in both JL movies as I'm pretty sure Larry Fong will be the cinematographer for those as well.

It's just the contrast for me I think. But the colors are different, even from the damn sneak peek to this trailer I mean so that this -

Even if the cinematography may not be someone's cup of tea, Fong is skilled in getting a distinct look from other generic movies, even Marvel's in a sense. But some of the filtering itself is awful in this trailer. It just makes it more artificial and video game like at times. Especially at the end of the trailer. Awful.

Yeah problem is, Snyder shot most of the huge battles in front on green/blue screen yet again. The filters are doing the visuals no favour either. There's a Bruce POV scene where Supes and Zod are falling from the sky and it straight up looks a video game.

The Trinity shot looked awesome though, despite the obvious green screen behind them.

The movie is so diverse looking. Some shots don't even look like they're from the same movie. Some shots are crisp, others are hazy, and others are in between.

And the use of color is miles better than MOS, even if it does suffer from the 'Snyder filter' at times.

If things don't work on this film, I guarrantee the cinematography & 'look' of the film will not be one of them.

I respect people who want more spot/docummentary cinematography, but me.. as me... as myself.. from me... in my opinion... this just looks miles better!

PS. Thanks LARRY!

Yeah, because he just only needed to film 2 superpowered beings falling from the sky at superspeed with wires on the sky and filming it... :whatever: :funny:

Haven't you watched Dragon Ball Z animated saga? It's like that type of point of view on speed-fight you won't see clearly because it's impossible to look it at that speed and your eyes (wrongly) say it as videogame when is your mind that is saying it, cause you know that VFX is obviously CGI but at least from me that shot looked really well achieved and IMPROVED compared to some of the MOS aerial battle scenes for example... Or maybe you don't realize this is Superman and how difficult his powers with him not having a helmet, mask at his disposal to make the VFX a lot easier

And again... is it really your eyes or your mind that says that because you know that Snyder (as well as other directors) do that in SOME not ALL scenes, mind you. the other thing is...does it matter? cause I really see no difference due to the shot looking decent to me that I don't give a **** if it's green screen or not. but hey, that's just me.

One thing I must have missed from you for example is complaining about AoU's visuals (like the group shot on the snow the most fake shot I have seen in the MCU so far, Iron Man on that same background looking computer generated or the final Iron Man armor which VFX speaking looking like from a videogame and a downgrade from previous VFX on that superhero) which in some ocassions looked like cheap VFX or like in Civil War Iron Man on all the teaser trailers shots he looked robotic-slow and a little fake again especially in the fight with Cap and Bucky, but no, nothing there because it's Marvel right? :word:

The diverse visuals look great in the new trailer, especially on the big screen. But that shot of Bruce talking with Diana -- really grainy and too filtered. I don't know if filtering made the grain more pronounced.

It looked like it was shot on 16mm, that's how pronounced the grain is.

Yep, that and the Day of the Dead scene look stupidly yellow.

I am ecstatic about this!! I literally posted my own edit of this scene when we first saw it, "fixing" it too suit my own ideals and this is it! I really don't like how they zombie Supes skin and the suit. So this makes me very happy. I'm holding out that they "fix" the court scene too.
This is just beautiful to me.

I love grain. It's a reminder that you're watching a FILM.

Even Man of Steel had grain.

Not every shot needs to look the same. That makes the cinematography more diverse, but maybe that's just me tho.

^ I agree. The film style seems to be "Whatever's the most epic."

And I'm 110 percent OKAY with that :D
