Sequels Lauren Shuler Donner wants X-Men 4 and The New Mutants

I'm only going to look forward to these if Fox says they'll keep their hands off of it. Hopefully Iron Man 2, Thor & Cap can knock some sense into Fox. "Hmmm... Those movies are getting good reveiws & doing good at the box office for more than one weekend. Hmmm..."

You would think but it hasn't happened yet .

Fox will never change how they make crappy comic films.

Long as kids go and buy all the crap toys after it they don't care if the film gets poor reviews.

Does Fox get anything off of the toys? Doesn't it all just got to Marvel (& now Disney)?

Maybe Disney will be our heroes & step in & say "Stop making s*** films & we'll let you keeps the rights a little longer". If Fox started making good movies they could easily doo 300mil+.

If its a toy or line with the lets jus say "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" logo or tag on it they will get some money off it, the game has the Fox logo on it, they'll get money off that.

The only way this franchise will ever regain it's glory is when Fox releases its license by returning it back to Marvel and allowing them to resell it to United Artists or Paramount.

A reboot is the only option at this point as the cast is getting far too old to portray their characters. And most of them have gone off in different directions for their careers.

Paquin is riding high on HBO and is an avid Bryan Singer supporter and seemed to be punished in the Last Stand by giving her character a send off with the cure

Jackman is doing the Wolverine films so his focus seems to be on those.

Famke, another Singer supporter was very disappointed by the last film and didn't seem very interested in ever returning to the franchise.

Rebecca Romijn, ditto.

Halle would probably be one of the few cast members that would be interested in returning. Yet very few like her version of Storm.

It would take a reboot to save this franchise and with possibly Bryan Singer or someone of his talent to come aboard and recreate that magic.

Agree with everything except your infatuation with Singer. Makes me think you are Singer himself... I mean Singer for Batman 3??? We all love what Bryan did with his X-Men films but let's not go crazy. He's not coming back to this franchise unless its a minor film or spinoff of sorts. They are better off simply rebooting. The problem with that is you can't have a reboot concurrently with a Wolverine franchise unless they redo Wolverine all over again beginning with Origins, but what would be the point since Jackman ain't coming back to team up films.

I don't know why you all assume a director or an actor will not be returning for a possible X-Men 4. We all thought Halle Berry wasn't going to return for X2 or X3 and yet she was there. Bryan Singer wanted to do X-Men 3 but Fox didn't want to wait for him to finish Superman Returns and he has expressed interest in directing future X-Men films. Also, Shuler Donner wants him to direct another one.

I don’t envision Fox embracing the elements that make the New Mutants the New Mutants.

You might have a point. I could just see them becoming either poorly acted or really bad ethnic stereo-types.

*shudders*

They...they could make Rahne Irish!:wow:

ROLF!

...Gah, I think I need to go get some sleep.

Seriously though, I could see them screwing it up majorly, now that
you mention it. IMO, seems like fans barely know who the New Mutants are anyway, so what does that say about studio execs?

I don't care if they want to make films for kids, kids get bloody everything, let at aleast some comic characters be aimed towards the late teens onwards.

Wholeheartedly agree!
(Though I don't want to see an R film, I'd be fine with a gritty PG-13 one.
Things don't have to be R to be mature or good.)

It kinda broke my heart to see the Wolverine movie being advertised in a Toys R Us ad of all things. I mean, really now!

Finally, someone with common sense.

Im 100% agreed.

I think Singer coming back would be one way of getting people like myself who are sick of Fox back on board for an X4, getting the cast to return and maybe giving us a new villain may also be another way, but I cant see it happening at this point, maybe the Wolverine DVD sales will change that.

Wolverine seems to be doing really well on dvd sales.

So yet again Fox make a crap film and it makes money, thus they won't change what they are doing, as to them its working cos its making lots of green.

That woman will say anything to get us lot all worked up, her words are hollow and false.

Without "that woman" we might not have had a successfull X-Men movie franchise now. She bought the rights many years ago and has been shepherding it ever since through thick and thin. So i think we should cut her some slack.:o

I think Donner throws ideas out there to see how people will respond because she's a fan of the material herself.
Oh God, I just wanna call BS on that. "Yeah, let's end the movie by contradicting THE MAIN FLIPPIN' PLOT POINT!" I dunno, have Polaris show up behind him and say "Just messin' with ya, dad." or something. Or just forget it ever happened. Absolutely forget it.

IMO you really can't ignore that scene if you're making a sequel.

What's the guarantee that Singer would definitely return if they had waited? What if Superman Returns did well enough to get an immediate sequel?

so true psyonic....

BTW the majoroty(.) doesn't hate Halle Berry as Storm she's won voted awards for the role... so I'm assuming the majority of moviegoers liked her portrayal, whereas comic fans don't... I personally don't get why Berry gets the hate she actually fought for some kind of increase in the character, even if they screwed the character up... it's not like Storm was well written (in comparison to the comics) and Berry butchered it

In fact they had quite a good cast, but just wrote a lot of characters poorly to accomodate Wolverine (as they believed only he could sell the franchise)

... ok tear me to shreds now

Fox didn't wait for Singer because he moved on to Superman when X3's release year was already set for the studio. Studios schedule their tentpole films in advance, and they didn't want to risk moving X3 back a year or two because the film had large investment deals already in place. It was also expected to greatly improve their performance for that year. With that said, Fox made the mistake of not locking Singer in a contract between X2's release and that point (or maybe they tried, and Singer decided to hold off, idk). I understand that Shuler Donner wants Singer back, but I wonder if Fox would actually sign off on that. I'm only speculating, but I bet Rothman and crew still hold a grudge.

I think one thing we got from Ratner in X3 was that he was prepared to 'power up' the characters - we got to see more characteristics of the characters we are all familiar with in the comics.

While I enjoyed X1 and 2 - I think Singer tends to de-power the characters to simplfy the movie for a general audience.

I'm not sure I want Singer back - As a comic reader who is very familiar with these characters, I do not feel there is sufficient respect for his comic films core support group. Although he does impress himself quite a lot.

I just want to see a Reboot with First Class and pray that Fox releases the rights back to Marvel. As for Shuler Donner I'll be fine with her producing as long as the movies follow the source material to great effect.

As far as Singer is concerned, move on. Move on...

I think a New Mutants Movie would be a Awsome movie.

have Emma Frost has the Teacher

and the team be made up of Magma, Wolfsbane, Boom Boom, Cannonball, Sunspot, Mirage and Hellion.
