Guardians of the Galaxy Lee Pace as Ronan: the Accuser

I think it's always possible for Ronan to return. If Marvel just resurrects certain characters & not everyone that dies, I feel it'll be okay and won't cheapen anything. But if they go the comic book route & bring back any & everyone who dies every time, it'd make it harder to take anything serious because you'll always be thinking "they'll be back eventually."

As for Lee Pace, he was great as Ronan. I'm fairly new to Ronan the Accuser but this was a great way to be introduced to him. I'm definitely intrigued & would love to see more of him in future movies.

^Yeah, I would prefer for most characters who die to stay dead, but Ronan is such an amazing character and just has too much potential to have a 1 and done deal in movies. I think with GOTG introducing Celestials and Power Gems and any other range of things Ronan being resurrected wouldnt be that much of a stretch.

I've always thought that too. Ronan is definitely worthy of resurrection. Pace did a fantastic job.

I hope he isn't 'dead'. Ronan is one of if not the most important/reoccurring Kree in the comics and plays huge part in the Annihilation story lines. It would be a waste to leave him dead. I don't think they should have killed him at all in the film.

Plus, the Kree will start to become more and more important as Phase 3 goes on with Captain Marvel being half Kree, the Inhumans, Agents of Shield etc. We were just introduced to the Kree in GOTG.

Since when is Captain Marvel half Kree? Anyways, me wanting Ronan has mostly to do with how well the cinematic portrayal came out and wanting to see more of him than his comic book importance.

Ronan accepts Quill's dance off challenge (gag reel/outtake clip)

Edit: James Gunn's explination of the dance off outtake video
Dance-off outtake from Guardians of the Galaxy, part of the gag reel on the Guardians Blu Ray. To be clear, this wasn't improv that was meant to be part of the film - it was actually a joke on Dave Bautista (Batista), where I got Chris, Lee Pace, and Zoe together and decided to turn the tables on the script. Dave was as surprised as the crowd when Ronan suddenly took up Quill on his offer of a dance off. When Dave is dancing he's just being a good sport. In the outtakes, you can see the whole crowd all dancing along. It was one of my favorite moments on set.

The Infinity Gauntlet is an open door to do anything, resurrect, change continuity, etc. Ronan could be back, Thanos might just bring him back in a way to mess with the Guardians

Considering the way Ronan told Thanos off, I really don't see why Thanos would want to bring him back with the gauntlet.

Doubtful, wouldn't make sense to bring back someone who's already dead just to make them your prisoner. Thanos wouldn't bother because he wouldn't even be thinking about Ronan after getting the Infinity Gauntlet. Hell, he's not gonna be thinking about him before he gets the Gauntlet.

^Maybe Nebula will get the gauntlet and make everything the way it was before Thanos came along, bringing back all the people Thanos has killed or something? There are many ways for them to bring Ronan back.

As for the chains thing, maybe Thanos respected him having balls and challenging him.

There are ways to bring Ronan back, but I don't think it should fall to Nebula or Thanos to do it...and I really don't want a "everything that happens from a certain point on gets erased" type of story because it cheapens everything.

If they can bring him back without saying "oh all this stuff never happened now" then I'd be all for it.

Since Santa brought the blu-ray I had a chance to watch Guardians again last night, and the biggest thing that jumped out at me on second viewing was Pace's Ronan. Really a great job with not a lot of screen time or dialog. That the character is underdeveloped isn't his fault.

Rooker as Yondu also popped the second time around. He just chews the hell out of every scene he's in.

Pace gave everything he had to that role. Great job.

And yea Rooker steals every scene he is in.

I doubt they'll bring Ronan back and I don't think they should.

I like Lee Pace a lot...but I don't see a reason to bring him back

And I disagree about Ronan being underdeveloped. From the beginning his history (or the main parts, anyway), his plans & how he planned to carry out his plans were all made abundantly clear.

Not really all that underdeveloped, imo.

I definitely think he was one of the better villains of the MCU, up there with Loki and The Winter Soldier for me. Pace's performance helped a lot. My only gripe as a Ronan fan was that he didn't use his hammer much.

Plus, they simply have to bring him back and turn him into a good guy. Despite what I say above, they didn't even scratch the surface of Ronans potential as a character.

I agree, he's definitely one of the best MCU villains. Pace chewed up the scenery every time & knocked it out the park. I'd have to also agree on the hammber bit, I wanted to see that sucker really in action & doing damage.

And I'd be okay with him coming back, just as long as it's not by Thanos because it just doesn't seem like something he'd do. I could maybe buy Nebula doing it or some other Kree soldier. I do have a feeling that Marvel plans on bringing him back at some point.

Hope that feeling is correct.

Marvel, you beautiful bastards. As a big fan of the character in the comics, and someone who liked him as the villain in GOTG, I was REALLy hoping we would see Ronan again. This news excites me A LOT.

And Korath as an added bonus!
