Superman Returns Legendary on Board Superman Sequel

I really enjoyed the SR movie and enjoyed reading the novel too.

And I wish the ratings were much better - My friends and I went to see the movie 4 times, because we enjoyed the film.

Wormy you do have a very good strong point - and I Agree with you about what you are saying "how the movie is a chick flick"

The next film just doesnt need the Action - but would be awesome to see and experience the Superman we were exposed to when our imaginations were young and limitless!

You said it best Wormy - A Superman that blows away anything done before.

Routh looked great in this first film, however He does need to come across more Masculine.

And look more masculine too.

Btw Mr. Routh : Drink Nitrotech, Celltech, and take Nitrix or some form of nitic oxide to keep that pump on screen.

Or better yet take the entire BSN or Muscel tech line to boost that frame more.

He showed us his emtional side, How about show us Supermans masculine side.

The strength we used to read about when we were young - from those paperback colored comic pages.

The Man who we dreamed we could someday become and evolve into - when we were just boys.

To do more then just leap tall buildings and out run a locamotive, but become the very Superman himself in our young imaginative dreams.

I think a Superman movie should go all out. I felt that...Singer held back alot, not showing the true potential of this great character. You have to show the people why Superman is THE superhero. While I thought Superman Returns was okay, it didn't show me anything that made him special. Donner had that magic, while Singer lacked it. Though his passion was there, there was no creativity..

Nightcrawler's intro scene from X2 and Wolvie going crazy on the intruders during the X-Mansion bust. you might wanna watch those then...

A blue cloud surrounds people and then they fall. I enjoyed the night crawler scene as much as anyone, but its not exactly the bench mark of action sequences. It is Cumming running and a cloud surrounding people as they fall over.

As for Wolverine, he stabbed a couple people. Again, not fantastic.

they're not gonna sound fantastic when you word them like that. i could easily say "big deal, Spidey and Doc Ock hit and punch each other while they're in a bank" and it has the same effect as your post...

...but if you show those (X2 action) scenes to a person who hasn't seen them before i'm sure they'll be impressed.

Compared to the other films he has made. Which, in that case would be true. Yes, there was romance in the X-Men films, but alot less than the Spider-Man films. In the same comparison to X-Men level romance, Spidey would be a chick flick as well.

But, as said before- to each his own.

I see Spider-Man and Superman to be superhero-romantic films.
He even said it after that he wanted to challenge himself and make a more female oriented film. A chick flick. "hey Singer! Experiment on another damn film with that stuff and not a SUperman film"

Well, to be honest...the action in X1 and X2 wasn't that great. The action in X2 only seemed to much better because X1 was almost totally void of action. But when you compare X1, X2 and Sr to movies like spiderman, spiderman 2, fantastic four, blade 1, blade 2, hellboy, batman begins, and even v for vindetta...they make all of singer movies seem very underwhelming in terms of action and plot. I still love the movies, because I'm a big X-man fan...but Singer just isn't cut out to make comicbook movies. i think he is a below average director when it comes to movies based on comicbooks...he just doesn't have the creativity or practical mindset to pull it off. in my opinion...V for Vindetta, Blade 1, Spiderman 1, Spiderman 2 and Batman Begins were the best comicbook movies to date...as far as action, character development, plot, and depth...but I'm still a bigger fan of X1 and X2 and X3 because i love the X-men....

The good part; We'll get a new Superman film in a couple to three years.

The bad part; Looks like we might be stuck with Singer and the contemptable mess he's created.

Well, hopfully he'll do his homework, take his time...nd focus more on the plot, character development and action..rather than a pretentious drama full of character relationship with almost zero onscreen chemistry.

That's how i felt. I mean it's Superman, he should have been doing things that would live up to his name. We only saw two major saving sequences in the film..........I really hope we see alot more in the sequel and that means more action!

And the biggest sequences (airplane and kryptonite liftoff to space) were very very veyr underwhelming...he spent money on things we've seen a million times that obviously looked CGI. I wish I could cast a spell to curse Singer from eve directing another comicbook movie again.

I actually liked the airplane sequence. It had tension and it was exciting.

The issue was that nothing really could top that. The earthquake scene was trying too hard to be 'chaotic'; I just thought it was boring. OHHH...the gas valves created flames...wow.

I always felt that after any action sequence, you should build it up from there and not stay at the same level. the earthquake in Metropolis had no excitment or real danger. The New Kryptonite scene wasn't much to write about either.

How do you figure? Sequels traditionally make less.

Furthermore, there is still money to be made here. I believe it was Showtime who said, we won't really know anything until the DVD is released and the movie is no longer profitable. Right now it is all spin.

Because it didn't make that much to begin with - and if I am not mistaken, each x-men film made more than the last.

I told you all superboy would return. This isn't spin, it's the truth...

I'm not a big X3 fan but I liked it's cheesy ass well enough, but I thought that Mags bridge scene was bigger and better than anything in the first two.

Got to disagree with you there. The mansion attack scene from X2 was THE best action scene in any X-Men film...

"You picked the wrong house, bub..."

I'll take a badass scene with the unthinkable of the X-Mansion being under attack happening and Wolverine going into his berzerker rage and killing dozens of soldiers over that bridge scene anyday.

Hell, even Logan's intro scene from X1 was pretty awesome where he was cage brawling in that Canadian bar.

But that's X-Men... that's neither here nor there. When it comes to Superman, in his case, bigger does equal better. It's just in the characters nature and his cinematic potential.

Supermans full cinematic potetntial hasnt even been tapped.....

not even close..... :(

woar, that's cool, so there will be a sequel... I think it's a great move  I guess Bryan, Michael and Dan already know what they're going to do in the sequel ;) they already know what to do with the kid story, they've known it from the beginning on. Question is: will that be a good plot?

I hope there won't be too many villains in the next movie. I think 2 are really enough. I've seen X3 and it totally sucked, cus something very important from the Singer movies was missing: emotions. I hope Bryan isn't going to do the same like Ratner in X3 :( I really love X1 and 2, to me, those are among some others the best comic movies ever.

Am I right for it to be released in 09 they will need to start shooting sometime next year?

IIRC, Singer said they should start with pre-prod by late next year.

I know a lot of folks around here will be disappointed that they're already moving forward with the sequel and that Singer is still attached...but I'm not a lot of folks and I'm happy about it. Now they just need to get Routh's arse back in the weight room.
aint it a little too early? if they start pre-prod by late next year he really doesnt need to get back to the weights until after his honeymoon.

Plus, they need to start spilling the beans on what the story is regarding the villains in the next one so we have something interesting to talk about around here.
given the timeline of this Legends news, i think that Zod rumour looks all the more credible :(

But, don't you think that the Zod rumors are more based on the reactions to SR and how people called SR an homage film?

I liked the film, but he could have used much more action.

Superman Returns Sequel FAQ Thread where all of ur questions are answered...

http://www.superherohype.com/forums/showthread.php?t=246217

LMAO there are no facts in that link at all only speculation and hype facts need not apply since some people seem to think they will green light a sequel even if the movie does not show a profit with the DVD sales and that is just not the case.
If you truely believe they will green light a sequel if the movie does not show a profit with the DVD sales I have some land in Flordia I want to show you nice beach front property....

There are loads of facts, everything is poitning to the idea that there will be a sequel...so live with Nate Grey....

We can assume from all the facts: WB comments, Legendary getting ready, Singer talking about sequel....its undenibale...

the only thing we can discuss now is that there will be a sequel....
