Saw that in another thread and quoted it here. Godzilla has an atomic heat ray? Is it something that shoots from his mouth or eyes? Also, do we have confirmation that it will be in this new movie?

So I take it you've never even seen an original Godzilla film before?
The 1998 Tristar version DOES NOT count.

Some people call it his 'fire breath"; even though it's not really fire.
Never has been fire...

Yes, he has always 'breathed' his atomic heat ray/ breath from his mouth since his very first appearance WAY back in 1954.

Rumor has it that he will, as Gareth Edwards the director, has said before that they are sticking to his original Japanese roots /origin.

I've never seen an original or the Tristar version. I didn't know he had that, it should be really cool to see.

I'm just catching up with this movie. Has there been any mention / hint at what his look will be? Are they sticking more with Godzilla's traditional look? I would hope so given how much they seem to be leaning towards the original in other aspects.

There was a pic of his head caught during last year's comic con.

Awesome - Thanks for the update. Can't wait to see it.

I'll try and track down the pic again, some concept art was released. I don't think the comic con pirated stills would be hype-kosher.

Edit: Here you go. Some official art from Legendary from Comicon 2010.

Apparently that comicon trailer also features the smouldering remains of a giant centipede monster.

Thanks again guys - Looks pretty cool and pretty close to the original look.

I loved the old movies as a kid so I'll probably always miss the look with the guy in a rubber suit to a certain degree.

Turtles is gonna suck, cuz they aren't even Turtles. They are aliens. I hope that project fails epically.

. . . . . . .

And as for a Teaser trailer attached to "Pacific Rim"?

Maybe Legendary will finally release the teaser trailer from last year's San Diego Comic Con, that hasn't been released to the general public.

Turtles is a movie that I don't see failing at all. TMNT is way too popular.

So between Godzilla and Turtles which do you see changing their release date?

Personally I think Godzilla should move to July

Godzilla would do great in July, but after hearing the latest news about TMNT, I think Turtles will be the one to back down. Godzilla has way more going for it as a movie for now, while TMNT has Godzilla beat right now as a well-known franchise.

WB already has Hobbit 3 in July so unless that moves they won't move Godzilla there.

NOTE: This is not a dig at Megan Fox. I don't mind her.

But it's weird to think that Megan Fox has beaten both Anna Kendrick and (now) Godzilla's Elizabeth Olsen for a role, both whom are super talented. Then again it's Ninja Turtles, so it's not high art but still it's bizarre.

I'm hoping that the rewrites for TMNT were actually pretty good seeing as Olsen actually tried out for the part and instead went on to Godzilla instead. It seems as if she was looking for her first big blockbuster and it was between Zilla and TMNT.

Kendrick tried out too which also leads me to believe that maybe the new TMNT script they have over at the Bay camp isn't all that bad.

That's what I'm hoping to, especially with Olsen and Kendrick proactively auditioning for the role. Maybe the script was fixed. Maybe Bay has a new perspective on things and is trying to improve on what he has done since his Transformers days.

Why are we even discussing 'Ninja Turtles' in the Godzilla thread?

I hope and pray it fails miserably.

OK, back to the topic at hand.

Who is waiting to see the trailer?

I know I am! Can't wait to finally see it :D

Christopher walken has a fever, the only prescription is More Godzilla footage.

I will never get why a fan would want something from their childhood to fail.

Because they have an example of what a Bay produced franchise based on an 80s children's property looks like and they think it represents a cancer for the film industry in general?

Anyways, March is nearing. Hopefully we have some concrete news soon.

Also, while I understand not releasing every little clip and things, I don't understand why comicon trailers are never released. Its an advertisement, for your film, that you saw fit show off to a couple thousand people. Potentially millions are interested in seeing just the advertisement. Why keep it under wraps?

Sorry, didn't mean to come off all negative.

it's just that I've heard nothing but bad news regarding Bay's 'Ninja Turtles' film.

They're from outer space, as in aliens? really?

Anyway, I apologize. I know the OP was just making an analysis between the 2 films,

Once again, I humbly apologize. :(
