Finally got the chance to see the trailer(first one) in theater and it was great to see the audience so interested in it.

You know what's great about this? The sound and the roar.

Edwards and company aren't kidding when they said they're trying to replicate a "natural disaster/calamity" not only in the visual sense but in the audio aspect too (proved by their partnership with Dolby).

Goji's scream reminds me of the type of ominous noise of an earthquake or when a lightning bolt hitting a transformer on a telephone pole. I'm sure many of you can relate it to any other natural disasters you may have experienced.

They have managed to capture the auditory affect on the human senses caused by the calamity and chaos of nature. Completely nondiscriminatory and utterly horrifying.

This movie is going to be insane in IMAX.

Thats exactly what I've been saying. I'm definitely going to see it in Imax or AVX or whatever has the best audio because the sound is what makes it what it is.

Me too plus the gigantic screen is what it's made for. Seeing it in imax was the first thing I thought of when I first saw the trailer

I hope at some point Toho will be able to release a complete Godzilla collection remastered and on Blu Ray. I'd cash out for that.

I need to rewatch it because I remember really, really appreciating and liking it the last time I watched it.

God, me too. I look at that 50th Anniversary collection for Bond with jealousy. But the rights are so friggin screwed up. I think there are currently 5 different companies with the rights for North American release. With 4 movies in nebulous status of getting a release. I'm proud of my collection, but damn it, I would like to at least upgrade all of them to DVDs so I could at least watch them all.

I didn't think about the audio in the Imax. Man, I enjoyed Pacific Rim in Imax, I have a feeling this is going to be a memorable experience.

If I could get Gojira and all the Heisei films on Blu Ray I'd be set.

How good are the Gamora movies compared to Godzilla?

Finally watched Gareth Edwards' Monsters. By god we are in safe hands.

That's the film that gave me 100% full faith in this project, Edwards was hands down the best man for the job imo, such a great and creative movie.

Pretty crazy to thing he edited and did the special effects for the film on his bedroom computer.

Here is the teaser trailer for the sequel Monsters: Dark Continent which Edwards is producing.

Honestly, as much as I adore Godzilla, the three 90s Gamera films are better than a good amount of Godzilla films. They have superior effects, the characters are a bit more well defined and the plots are stronger. I'd say as films themselves they are better than a majority of the Showa Godzilla films, on par with the best of the Heisei era and better overall than the Millennium series. The director of all three directed Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack which is that movie is so balls out awesome.

Gareth Edwards is absolutely right when calling the original Gojira "Therapy for a nation" in that new Empire interview.

The use of the color red in this film is interesting to me. They seem to have a lot of instances of red objects or streaks in front of the grey-green shots of smoke and soldiers, be it the tracking smoke of the jumpers, the flares shot up towards Godzilla, or now these Chinese lanterns.

Good spot! All the instances also seem to have the red sources originating from the humans also.

what I really love so far is the overall mood and atmosphere they're going for.

it really feels like a MONSTER movie, instead of big blockbuster with splosions and stuff.

With all that we've seen so far, i think that it's almost a shame that Godzilla will have to share the screen with some giant insects, instead of being the main and only meal.
