Considering how unkiddified Zedus was, I mean he was eating people and impaling Gamera, why they decided to revert to the whole Gamera looking goofy astounds me because Zedus' design looks great. Zedus is actually the one thing from Gamera the Brave that Kaiju fans speak highly of in a very middling movie. Compared with the last Heisei movie Gamera 3: Revenge of iris, I'd think anything to come afterwards would have hefty shoes to fill.
Hey guys, more soundtrack goodness today.
Last week saw the recording of the massive choir at Sony for Godzilla. This week brings the orchestra and, well, um, did I just say that the choir was massive?

I do not have a confirmed number yet but I was told that the final headcount could push upwards toward 200 instrumentalists, which is obscene. For reference, a full sized modern orchestra is generally accepted and considered to be in the neighborhood of 90 instrumentalists. For further reference, Mahler's 8th symphony "Symphony of a Thousand" suggests an orchestra size of 200 would be suitable to compliment a choir of 800. This is essentially equivalent to Hans Zimmer's "wall of sound" approach towards orchestration but with solely live performers. It's going to sound massive and I am really interested in hearing the final product.
Here is another shot from the session that shows part of the orchestra wrapping around the conducting podium:

I got a story to share with ya guys.
Few days ago, through some Godzilla web browsing, I came across this: http://americankaiju.kaijuphile.com/american-godzilla/ag94page2.shtml
A graphic novel of the 94 Godzilla. Had no idea that someone (Todd Tennant) did something like this. I read what was put up very quickly. But was disappointed to see that the page had not been updated for a while. I was curious, so I sent an email. I didn't expect to get a reply so quickly, but I did. Todd Tennant is still working on it he assured me. Said he could be done in another year, maybe sooner. I wished him best of luck and that I'd be waiting for updates. He thanked me, and sent me a nice little gift. A picture of the Godzilla he uses in the novel with a little note to me.
"Beast wishes to my kaiju-pal, Joe".

Signed and dated too.
Very cool of him to send that to me. I love the design he uses, easily in my top 3 favorites
TheNextNolan thanks a bunch for finding those and posting, I couldn't find any new official t-shirt pics anywhere, I really like the one just posted above.
No offense to the graphic novel creator who probably did it himself on virtually no budget, but the structure and plotting is terrible.
I have no idea what is going on and who these characters are. It's incredibly disjointed and poorly put together.
Not sure how these folks got their hands on this already.
