i hope we do see something of the original movie, and i mean the 1954 classic, when Godzilla was a drama film/monster film with horror elements.
that's what makes that film so classic. it's not a "bang bang" monster movie like Cloverfield was (good movie BTW), it wasn't eared towards children (like other G movies were), and it wasn't corny (like parts of FW was)... and that's what i want to see from this film, except in an epic way.
this franchise needs to return to the original elements that made this monster... the original ideas and plans that Tomoyuki Tanaka, Ishiro Honda, and Eiji Tsubaraya had in mind when they created Godzilla... we see that in Gojira, and it needs to be majorly emphasized in this new movie desperately.
Godzilla never did get the critical acclaim that it has in Japan (at least that's what I think), so unfortunately, i dont see this movie doing numbers like Avengers and Man of Steel. the core audience is going to be overseas, so it needs that familiarity and faithfulness to the original more than ever right now.
Godzilla Final Wars was the last thing Japan came with, and now it's up to Hollywood to do this green mutated dinosaur justice and make-up for its horrendous past with this franchise
