Legendary Pictures' 2014 Godzilla Reboot - Directed by Gareth Edwards - Part 4

The thing that annoyed me about GINO was the fact they made Godzilla out to be some kind of serial killer/stalker. Like he actually cared about getting rid of this nagging group of people (Broderick, Reno etc..) chasing them around New York like a Scooby-Doo villain.

It was really strange.

I mean, they were responsible for killing his kids. You'd chase somebody like a Scooby-Doo villain too.

Which brings me to another point. Who the hell thought it was a good idea for Godzilla to have kids?

:o

Was Godzilla supposed to be asexual or did they say it was female?

I do admit there are PARTS of GINO that I enjoy, and think for the time the opening sequence was quite impressive, but the film only gets worse by the minute, and I haven't really looked at it as anything Godzilla related since I saw it opening night as a kid.

What I hate about now as I've gotten older is that it's corny. It's got that Emmerich level of ham that all of his movies have. The dude is corny.

They were Godzilla's kids?!

I thought they just stumbled across a nest of Raptor eggs. :o

I don't think it came close to failing as either one of those types of films. I think it would have been better if Del Toro kept a consistant tone or vibe with the film. He should have just picked one of those over the other.

Yeah, he couldn't find the right balance. It seemed like all the scenes with Hunnam, Elba and Kikuchi were super-serious, while all the Day/Gorman/Pearlman stuff was silly and goofy. The two just didn't mesh well together.

He was asexual.

Yet another way 'Zilla '98 tried to be like Jurassic Park instead of a Godzilla movie. Self-impregnating Godzilla.

And before anyone brings up Minya/Minilla from the 1960s, or Godzilla Junior from the 1990s, both of those creatures were merely discovered when Godzilla was around and "adopted", not fathered (or mothered) by Godzilla.

I hope we get 2 Godzilla's going at it in the future

With how annoying just about every single character in that movie was, I don't blame GINO. :woot:

Favorite parts of the film are Jean Reno and dat 90s soundtrack. Kinda hypocritical of me to say that as I once said I hate everything about the film. *Shrugs*

I enjoyed the 98 film just as background noise. When you actually pay attention, its a different story.

Hopefully Godzilla is an adept hand to hand combatant like his predecessors. Maybe he can use professional wrestling finishes such as the F-5 or the People's Elbow.

GINO is a perfect example of how badly some cgi gets dated, I bought ther blu-ray for $5 just to revisit the film and check out the tranfer and those effects look pretty bad at this point.

The Godzilla 1998 soundtrack is a fantastic time capsule, similar to the Batman Forever soundtrack.

Roland Emmerich tweeted to say that he's excited to see what Edwards is doing with Godzilla and posted the video.

One reply was ''Looks awesome but it will never be as good as yours.''

That was his second account.

I won't front though, back when i saw this teaser in front of Lost in Space I got excited.

Ha, ha, ya every character was flipping annoying in every aspect. The movie had some nice sequences imo, but overall just a JP version on steroids.

The cast in Godzilla 1998 was terrible. Everyone except Jean Reno is just a bad actor in general (Broderick was good in Glory, but that seems to have been a fluke), and Emmerich and Devlin populated a monster disaster movie with characters who act like they're out of some dumb sitcom.

I wonder who's idea it was to cast three voice actors from The Simpsons?!

Anything less than the atomic leg drop would be stupid.
