BTW, people were laughing when they saw Channing Tatum in the Jupiter Ascending trailer. :hehe:

Yeah, several of my friends went to see The Hobbit: DOS's midnight showing, mostly to see both the Godzilla trailer and the movie. It didn't show...In the 3D showings. But the 2D showings had the trailer playing. They were so pissed off xD Well I know what showing I'll be seeing on Saturday lol.

On a lighter note, looks like IDW got the old team back together! Issue #7 of Rulers of the Earth is going to be insane!

i think people are smarter and more interested in something different than studios give credit for. so many trailers follow the same patterns and rote kind of ways of trying to sum up a movie. and it's not necessarily like this trailer breaks new ground or anything, but it is a fairly bold trailer in terms of trying to sell a Godzilla movie to an American audience with that kind of grim, powerful mood, without much dialogue or sound effects (the sound effects that are in here, the soldier's breathing and then Godzilla's roar...they stand out that much more for the lack of sound elsewhere), with less is more, with freaking creepy 2001: A Space Odyssey music playing over the first half. and the audience LOVES it, suddenly goes from unaware to dying to see the movie.

pandering to the lowest common denominator never does anyone any real favors.

well, y'know, they could of had Godzilla make fart and testicle jokes in the trailer.......:o

I mean.....stuff like that is soooooooo hilarious and entertaining. :whatever:

Jet Jaguar and Anguirus would be stereotypes when hanging around Godzilla ala Skids and Mudflap.

That would be terrible.

and that's something that I really liked about the trailer, and the overall approach they seem to be taking with this film.

They could have gone the Michael Bay/Transformers route with all kinds of **** exploding, noise pollution, and badass background music. They could have emphasized monsters beating the crap out of each other. They could have just screamed ACTION, ACTION, ACTION!!!! GO, GO, GO!!!

instead, the trailer has a very low-key, minimalist, "quiet" tone........an almost surreal quality about it.

it's very refreshing, actually.

It just builds and builds until that reveal that isn't even a real reveal. None revealing reveal if you will.

I still think they should have incorporated the Oppenheimer narration into the new trailer somehow........

like, play that narration while they're showing the montage section.

then, when it gets to the reveal of Godzilla, have it say "And now I am become death. Destroyer of worlds." Godzilla roar!!

So why is that quote from Oppenheimer always attached to Godzilla nowadays?

So why is that quote from Oppenheimer always attached to Godzilla nowadays?

Well besides the fact that Godzilla is a metaphor for nuclear/atomic power that still exists today and Oppenheimer is the Father of The Atomic Bomb? Nothing. Well, you can put 2 and 2 together and see what you get. :o:p

I watched the trailer with the Oppenheimer quote stuck in there. It felt kind of out of place. I'm glad they left it out of this one.

The trailer it's been edited in to was quite a copy and paste job. It still and the rumbles and bangs in the background. I think if it was dead silent with the quote it would have worked well.

It doesn't need the quote. The first teaser had it, it's great. New trailer doesn't have it, still great.
