Films with a twist - are there films that you were watching that you had a view in the direction it was heading and the ending went in a very different way. Which ending was better ?

The only one I can think of is the gift. The trailer made it seem like a thriller/slasher type movie but it wasn't that at all. And going into the movie I was assuming it was headed in that direction. The actual way that it goes is much better. Don't wanna spoil it for anyone who has yet to see it, but I definitely recommend it. Underrated as hell.

I'm pretty sure TH8 ended different from what I thought it would - I liked that ending better than the one I had expected.

Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind the small twist in it I did not see it coming

Always thought that the better ending for Seven would have been...

It was the their baby in the box, not the wife's head

Anyone ever seen an '80s Kevin Costner/Gene Hackman political thriller called No Way Out?

The whole movie they're using this mythical Russian super-spy called "Yuri" who rumor has it has infiltrated the Pentagon as a scapegoat. Yuri supposedly doesn't even exist and is just a Washington myth, so the investigation they're misdirecting is chasing a ghost.

The very end, after all is said and done, it's revealed
Costner himself is Yuri.

I truly think no one can guess the ending of First Reformed

I remember watching that with my parents when I was younger and that's a damn good one.

Given the mechanics of how that would work , you would still end up with the same ending, only now, it would be twice as tragic.
