one reason why I dont really want Cranston as lex is Because it'd be too much like walter white versus superman. Its uninspired to have him in the role because its to similar to the role he just played on the greatest tv show of all time. Id like to see what someone else could do with the villainy of that magnetude.

I disagree completely. Walter White isn't just like Lex Luthour at all. He's somewhat similar in that he's bald and became a villain...but WW was riddled with far more insecurities (and let those insecurities show much easier than Lex), not nearly as charismatic as Lex Luthour should be, and wasn't nearly the master tactician, planner, or manipulator that Lex was.

The roles are similar, but not the same by any means.

You guys, you're missing an important part here. And that's the star power of BC. I know he's not exactly a Hollywood A-Lister, but he just came off one of the greatest TV-shows ever made and it's popularity can only help boost Batman vs Superman to new heights.
Think of it.
The sheer curiosity of seeing Affleck as Batman will put a lot of asses in seats.
Cavill being popular with the ladies will do it's fair share as well and even more so that he's so widely accepted as a good Superman.
The mere concept of a versus movie which is probably the biggest appeal of the entire movie.
Wonder woman will finally make her big screen debut.
Jason Momoa will likely be one of the villains ( not a superstar, but a known name.)
AND Cranston playing a character somewhat similar to the role that made him a world wide star. I mean him as Lex practically promotes itself. There are sides to this casting that fanboys are overlooking.

WB is looking for star power and they're doing a great job at it, because they're going to need it in 2015.

Fair point. I still want Joaquin though. He could be so many emotions, and lex needs someone like that. He can be warming and charming ( good for the public ) but go dark and cold in the eyes for supes. Cranston would attract attention and maybe become THE lex luthor of all time, but I kinda wanna see Joaquin have a go first.

It's been widely speculated and sort of makes sense that there is another major villain other than Lex in this movie, what if Phoenix was actually up for Joker? I know I know after Heath's performance how could they be so bold as to do Joker again so soon - but different continuity - would WB really let their (arguably) biggest villain sit on the sidelines? They do seem to be pulling out all the stops - Superman Batman Wonder Woman Lex and...Joker? A small part of me thinks it's a possibility.

I didn't think about that but Phoenix would be a good fit for The Joker.

I'm pretty sure its gonna be two Superman villains and no Batman villains which is good in my eyes, Batman's villains should be left for his own solo films

Lex and Metallo would really be enough for this movie as far as Superman villains are concerned. When you throw in the mix of Batman and WW, it sorta balances itself out pretty good. Doomsday is just overkill.

Oh man, Phoenix as the Joker would also be awesome. And I'd love to see both Lex and the Joker in this, it would be a perfect opportunity - the ideal World's Finest movie, and you know the four of them - Joker, Luthor, Batman, and Superman could carry their own movies, it'd be instant success, a sort of back handed Avengers scale formula that works in its own way.

Hey, wasn't Phoenix the original choice for Joker before Ledger if I remember...?

Personally I'm 100% behind Cranston as Lex, but I would be for Phoenix too I just have a sinking feeling as many have said before that Phoenix is just too hesitant to sign on for a role that demands possible sequel requirements.

I think that's probably the most important factor in JP's decision.

That, of course, is even if he has been actually offered anything in this movie in the first place.

My balls would explode if this film opens with batman in arkham, talking to a recently captured joker ( who wouldn't be seen or properly heard 1 in the shadows 2 broken jaw) alluding to a future throw down. Doesn't have to be long or mean much but just enough to make me wanna see me make it. But I digress........
