Hmm... So he is free to turn down stuff guilt free, even if the pay check is beyond healthy.

Yeah. He is choosey too. And he seems kinda...eccentric or something. So him turning it down is plausible. But...an oscar-winning writer and director are involved and Pheonix knows Ben and his brother. He also worked with Amy. And with this new writer...this could be a good role for him. Could go either way.

Apparently he was offered the role of Joker in Nolan's Batman before Ledger and he turned that down. This is according to the boards. I don't know this for sure.

At this point, I'm just hoping he has some good memories from his time on Superboy... He could be an undercover Superman fan.

You know what is also interesting Charl? The reports of Terrio being hired to make some polishes to Goyers script come out about the same time reports say WB's in negotiations/has offered/will offer Phoenix the role of Lex most likely.

Perhaps Phoenix read the script and wanted some adjustments made to the Lex Luthor character or with certain scenes/diologue before considering accepting, hence why Terrio was hired to make the adjustments?

I'm just speculating of course, but trying to put two and two together since both these reports came out about the same time.

What do you think about that possibly being the scenario?

Exciting potential news, but it's way too early to celebrate. Of course WB would want someone of his calibre for the role, doesn't mean it's going to happen. Would love to be proved wrong but I just have a hard time seeing JP taking a super hero film directed by Zach Synder.

Nothing wrong with being excited about it though. At least we know WB's are going after A list talent for Lex.

Regardless if Phoenix takes the role on or not. Maybe scheduling is being worked out also as we speak so Phoenix can fit both BvsS and Van Sants films in next year?

I guess the unpredictable nature of some of these actors is simply that. Unpredictable.

I never thought Philip Seymour Hoffman would never join another franchise after his apparent unhappy time on M:I3 but he's joined in on The Hunger Games fun.

Time will tell, let's hope it's a New Year treat for everyone and we get the good news we're all waiting for.

JP on a recent episode of Jimmy Fallon. This is actually seriously funny. Phenoix is such an immense personality with a strong appearance. Gawd him as Lex would be so amazing. The nerd in me would explode out of my brains and all over myself in geeked out glee. JP is an amazing talent.

Trying not to get excited about Phoenix taking the role, I just can't imagine him doing it. But then I wouldn't have guessed Affleck would do it either...
