In Singer's defence, I don't think this a bad movie at all. I'm looking foward to it. I think one issue that people have is that Singer played it safe. To a point, I do have an issue with that too. When I mean 'safe' I don't mean the spiritual side or personal conflict of this flick.
I mean that Singer chose a path where he presents the most basic concept of Superman, and adds another layer (Supes leaving and coming back to a more cynical world), but doesn't include any of the more mythos from the modern comics. For example, STAR Labs or hints of other supervillains.
It's fine but it's a very old school via Donner/Burton era where it seems not a lot of research was actually done, unlike what Nolan did with Batman Begins.
Yeah, it COULD be basically a 'remake' of sorts, but it's Superman and that's exciting. I dont agree with everything that Singer chose to go with (I'm waiting for Spacey's Lex) but I don't think this will be a diaster. In fact it could be a great cinematic experience.
I need at least ONE good comic book movie this year, and so far, X3 was crap. That's why I hope that this movie will kick arse.
I'm sure by the sequel that Singer will have to do more research, since I'm ASSUMING that he'll go with another villain. Either way, he has to since Spider-Man 3 has 4 baddies, Fantastic Four has Galatix and Silver Surfer, and Batman Begins Again has a whole army of rogues to deal with.
anyway..
Even though I read the book, Just hoping that Lex will even be more DARKER than his novel counterpart. I'm still having doubts on Kitty though..............
