The Dark Knight Likes And Dislikes

Likes:

-The atmosphere/blue color hue. Thank god they got rid of that brown/orange look. I REALLY disliked that in Begins.
-Heath Ledger - he is amazing, enough said.
-The Batpod - Glad to see this cool vehicle getting great on screen treatment.

Dislikes
-Nothing really, originally hated the makeup idea, now I'm okay with it and actually think that Joker looks really, really cool. So permawhite or makeup is fine with me

sometimes conebone, you just surprise me. each and everyday with your wacky antics
Lol
In terms of darkness, it's on par (from the trailers) with BB. But the 'less serious tone', Conebone? I don't know where you're getting that from. This is far from light hearted.
Ok well maybe scratch the serious tone. But I still think it isnt as dark

Likes:

- Lucious is still around
- the Heath's Joker is much darker than Jack's
- more insight on Gotham
- no outlandishly cartoonic villans (Joker/the mob/two-face won't be cartoony)
- Bruce dealing with the consequences of being Batman
- Alfred seems to continue to be Bruce's mentor instead of just his man servant

Dislikes:

- the segmenting of the suit's armor (I like the suit, just too segmented though)
- the batpod (unless the tumbler is destroyed or decommissioned, I can't see the purpose of this)
- no backstory for the Joker, just seeing his "rise" in the criminal ranks
- although I like the grin, I don't like the white makeup, but I can live with it
- they are continuing the love interest with Rachel, and now its an actual love-triangle

TDK less serious than BB?
:bh:You wont like me when i'm angry!

Ok, you guys watch this BB trailer and please dont tell me that the TDK trailer still looks darker and more serious. Honestly, when I watch the BB trailer I just get the sense that this is a mature, dark gloomy film. I get that from the TDK trailer but just not as nearly as much

You are judging by the trailers?
The director, his holiness mr Nolan himself said that TDK is a lot darker. For christ's sake it revolves around the Joker, two-face and batman's one rule. Are you nuts?

I'm a little confused of what you are trying to say Cone, but easily TDK is more dark. Not necessarily in look or tone. But the events in TDK are much more large scale and more dangerous for the innocent people of Gotham. The Joker is the pinnacle of evil.

As for seriousness, both the films are equal in that aspect. But even the marketing to me in TDK shows the film is going even a darker aspect because of the Joker himself, I mean writing in blood "Why So Serious" to be displayed publicly shows that the people working on this movie know how this movie is turning out to be.

The words "serious" and "dark" can be subjective. But TDK is no less of what BB is. And the Joker is much more of a sadistic villain then Scarecrow and Ra's combined. This much is just evident from the source material. And hence TDK will be a "darker" themed movie because of the Joker himself.

And watching the TDK trailers I get that feeling a lot. Though in terms of serious, both the films are serious, yet with the Joker he truly brings Batman to the edge of insanity which some would say is more of a serious matter then what Ra's put him through. The struggle with in is the darkest battle out there, and Joker knows how to make Bats dance to his tune.

I see what you're saying, but I think 'dark' maybe the wrong word. BB just comes across as more low key, whereas TDK has a much grander, theatrical element to it, for obvious reasons. But I see where you're coming from.

by "serious" do you actually mean "dry as the friggin' sahara"? Because that's what begins was, dour, dry, and lacking even the slightest element of whizz bang entertainment which has much more to do with batman than, for example, seeing how many times one can insert the word "fear" into a script. Fortunately it looks as though bats will actually kick some major ass this time round, and thank god there's a real villain this time

I'll say it again. How can you have a movie with a character named "The Joker" and not expect to have some sort of humor, albeit of a more twisted nature.

It's not like it looks frivolous or Adam West-style.

Wow, five posts and I already hate you :cwink:

Wow, a crazy statement from the opposite end of the spectrum.

Just ignore that type. Thats why I've been a ghost the past month on these boards. When it gets closer you get the immature folk on extreme sides of the spectrum's that just want attention. Most of them are previously banned people with no lives.

Thats why I and many others just stay away when it gets so close.

I like this thread for some reason. Everyone's on subject and the views I've seen expressed so far are fairly interesting.

Just looking at an image of the Joker you can tell this will be darker.

No need to get all upset. I understand what your saying. But I still think you are wrong.

The Joker.

Thats all I need to say. ;)

To be fair, Conebone, you're not exactly explaining your point of view very well. I too think I understand where you're coming from; even though I don't agree with it. However, I think you need to cite specific examples from Begins and The Dark Knight in order establish your point more clearly. That way, more people might understand where you're coming from.

Likes: Everything I've heard/read/seen
Dislikes: about the only thing I can think of is I wish Caine would speak better english, but I've gotten over it :p

ah yes..ive totally forgetten about that..

sometimes when he says certain things i dont understand till the fifth viewing or when i decide to add subtitles...

i hate that..

the airplane convo in BB i barely understood his lines lol:woot:

Well, if you ask me, this thread would be better when we all have watched the movie, but anyway, I'll play :oldrazz:

Likes
- The Joker. A HUGE "like". And I like everything about him. Looks, behaviour, Heath - everything.
- the development of the story from "Begins" - the emerging of the Bat-men, the curiosity towards Batman from the media and the people, etc.
- the fact that Harvey Dent will be important character even before he becomes Two-Face. Which is something we never have seen on big screen until now.

Dislikes
- the new batsuit. It's just ugly. I would be more pleased if they just retained the one he had in "Begins", it was perfect. Besides, I find the "new movie - new suit" syndrome to be rather annoying.
- the bat-pod. It's not as ugly and irritative as the suit at all, but if they destroy the beautiful Tumbler for its sake, I'm gonna hate it forever, I fear. And "bat-pod" sounds idiotic, and even worse, they call it that way in the movie too...

I can probably list more things... when I watch movie tho :cwink:

Don't let them get to you. This could very well be the last time we get to anticipate and become psyched up for a Nolan Batman film. Most of the people on these boards have been cool and offer something interesting to discuss. So don't be a stranger. Enjoy it while ya can.

I've gave many explamples. Eggyman, can you explain what I mean to everyone cuz obviously people dont get me

Everything I've seen thus far.

Dislikes:

The return of Rachel. Ugh, if she doesn't die, I will scream. I want to see her Joker-ized (and by that I mean violently and gruesomely murdered by Mista J.) so badly its not even funny.

Dislikes:
- The ominous feeling that it could be a flop.

You have a feeling it could be a flop? Really? Honestly, the worst I can go to is that TDK might be a mild sucess.
If TDK turns out to be a flop, then all hope I have and all my faith in humanity will be lost.

There is no way in hell its going to flop, no way.
