Live Action 'Dumbo'

Michael Keaton is now known as "the guy who should have won that OSCAR." He doesn't need a beetle juice II anymore.

Another leading role in a big movie like Beetlejuice 2 isn't bad to add on the resume either, especially after his acclaimed performance in Birdman.

I loved Dumbo when I was a kid. My mom had it on videotape, so, I saw it a LOT of times :oldrazz:. The scene where Dumbo goes to visit his mother in captivity always made me tear up :waa:. Why is this live action though? It's been a long time since I last saw Dumbo, but I don't remember any significant human characters. I think it might work better animated.
This will just be a Tim Burton movie with elephants that bears little resemblance to the Dumbo story. Because every time Burton adapts a preexisting property (Alice in Wonderland, Sleepy Hollow, Dark Shadows), he turns it unto a generic Tim Burton movie rather than adapting himself to the material. I'm not interested in seeing him crap all over Dumbo.

That's another thing I'm worried about. The original was only just an hour long. So, even if doesn't change too much, it's still going to be padded as hell.

Except Sleepy Hollow is one of his strongest films.

Burton put a pretty damn good spin on it They even expanded upon the whole original story and Ichabod.

I must say though, Sleepy Hollow is the oldest (1999) out of those three adaptions. I totally sold out in a way where his 'look' is just branding, while his more modern movies are fairly conventional and lack his 'punk-rock I don't care what people think' irreverent tone of his past movies. Case in point, Pee-Wee and Beatlejuice. How the hell did he get the latter greenlit, along with Ed Sciorrhands?

Please note that i think his modern movies aren't Razzie bad, but he's just going through the motions. I would say his best stuff lately were Big Eyes and maybe Sweeney Todd.

I'd love to see Johnny Depp reboot his career by playing Dumbo.

it would look cool on paper, but then he'll sleepwalk through it.

Sleepy Hollow was really good. However his other "adaptations," not so much.

Who would he play? The mouse?

It's so weird to have Smith here. Not to the irony of his big ears (hehe) but his presence won't make or break the movie in this day and age. If I was him, I would go for Bad Boys 3 IF they were to film at the same time.

No one, but Disney wants that dough, so.

I'll give it a go. It's obvious people still need movies about respecting people who are different

If he's not playing all three of the racially insensitive crows there's no justice in the world.

100% he's playing Timothy the Mouse who, next to Dumbo, is the lead of the show. He also gets Dumbo drunk! And will most likely get to rap Pink Elephants.

Motion capture Will Smith and he's good to go!

Tom Hanks to play a villain!

I've always found everymen known for relatable good guy characters are often terrifying when they become villains. Can't wait.

Ehhhhh. Burton had been really stepping up his game with his recent stuff, it'll be a shame to see him slide back down to Alice in Wonderland again.

For those who have also never heard the term pachyderm before - "a very large mammal with thick skin, especially an elephant, rhinoceros, or hippopotamus."

Well this is random as heck (everything about this movie is :hehe:), but expanding the human cast of the story makes sense, I guess.

Couldn't even have three posts, let alone a 2nd page, before some identity politics BS pops up in the thread.

This site is obsessed with it.
