The Amazing Spider-Man Lizard's New Look: Verdict?--POLL

What did you think of his appearance?

  • PERFECT! It's the character come to life!

  • THAT'S the Lizard?! Mini-godzilla without the coat?

  • Can't tell yet. He wasn't in the trailer enough.

  • Where's Venom?!

  • It seems ok.

There is no way Dr. Connors is going to die in this movie. I just can't see it happening. Just because its a video game, doesn't mean that it would change something that important. If they wanted to have the Lizard there because he is in the movie Beenox could have just had Iguana, but they said you would interact with Gwen Stacy and Dr. Connors.

And I'm sure he doesnt die. After all, he's in the game. It would be stupid if they included a character who died strangely be back. I mean, the game is technically the build up to the sequel.

Dee Brown has confirmed that the game is it's own continuity. Connors being in the game does not prove anything.

But, at the same time it's its own continuity, they have said many times that it takes place after the story of the movie. So, for the game, the movie will be canon, but it doesn't mean the game will be canon for TASM2, and I don't think it will.

Connors survives, I say, what we don't know is if he can become the Lizard again, someday.

Is it possible that when they say Connors is in the game it's because of Audio Tapes?

That or the formula is ****ing with his mind and he loses control of himsellf and the Lizard persona starts consuming. And I'm sure he doesnt die. After all, he's in the game. The game doesn't include playable scenes from the movie? I'd be shocked if you don't get to throwdown with the Lizard in the movie tie-in. That was the big sell of the last three movie games (that and free-roam in SM2).

The game takes place after the events of the movie. If you do get to throw down with the Lizard, it would have to be in a flashback format or something like that.

Actually, it looks very much like the character, just not the version you love and have become accustomed too.

The design in TASM is based on how The Lizard looked when he first debuted in the comics and his facial features were human, with some differences.

Most people would have preferred something like the Todd McFarlane design or the glorified croc/alligator/lizard amalgam look he's had in the recent books and I respect that, to each his own.

I am very aware of what the Lizard looked like in the Ditko and Romita comics. I own ASM 44-45. And this...

does not look like this:

Besides, most consider the design not as good as what came later. I personally think nobody drew the Lizard better than Mark Bagley did.

Best advice I can give is to wait and go see the movie. As Anno Domini said, just because the character may look bad, doesn't mean he won't be great in the movie and, according to those who've seen the "Untold Story Begins" screening footage, the Lizard does look pretty good in action.

With TASM, I think patience is the key factor. We haven't seen much so we have to just be patient and, depending on what we get between now and when the movie releases, withhold judgement until we see the film.

I hope the movie works. I like how Spidey is quipping/funny in the trailers I like Emma Stone in general (though she feels more like MJ in energy to me while oddly Dunst felt more like Gwen), but I'm going in with an open mind. I still am not sold on the Lizard though or the angsty tone with this character.

Aside from the clothes and claws, they seem pretty similar to me. Either way, its more about how the character acts and the personality rather than looks, like Anno Domini said

Yeah I agree, they look exactly the same to me other than the fact that our Lizard isn't wearing clothes and has claws.

They are both sucky designs imo. I hated the Ditko lizard and as much as I have seen from this movie so far, this lizard does not impress me either...they didn't even give him sharp teeth wtf?

Leh sigh

The retorts are "who would want to see a talking raptor?" I don't want to see a talking Lizard period. I want a carnal beast with intelligence...which is the antithesis of the Ditko design who ran around pointing and talking. The Lizard should be a slow build up with Connors eventually extinct from the creature.

They gave him sharp teeth. It just isn't incredibly obvious.

This has always been one of my favorite Lizard pics, personally.

The movie Lizard actually reminds me a lot of that in the body type. It looks like that with Ditko Lizard's head on it.

I think a talking Lizard would add to the tragedy of the lizard the same way that him having clothes could. It would show that he used to be an intelligent human. It might be a little easier to forget about the human side of the Lizard if he doesnt talk or show any other signs that he was once a human searching for a missing piece. I know, there have been many complaints that the Lizard is already too human, but I think that it adds more to the character of dr. Connors and the Lizard if you can tell that part of him is still human even in his most beastly form. I just feel that that way he would be more interesting than if he was just a beast.

From the trailers, and this is just a guess, there is nothing tragic about Connors becoming the Lizard. He seems like an evil scientist to me. I may be wrong...just what I get from the trailers.

True, some of the lines in the movie do make him sound very evil. In the interviews though, Marc Webb kept talking about Dr. Connors as the "Missing piece." You could be completely right, but going off of memory of what Webb said in some interviews, Connors seems like a good guy turned into a villain because of an accident. Its a bit cliche but I'm interested in seeing how the idea is executed in this movie.

Sorry I can't really give a link to the exact interviews where Marc Webb said that because I'm on my iPod right now and I would have to search for them.

If I had to guess...I would say he is a good guy that turns evil in human and lizard form...and I think he dies. It looks as if he is the opposite of Spider-Man. Power corrupts Connors and it doesn't Peter. All a guess.

Another guess is that the funeral is for Connors. Pete feels guilty because he created the Lizard and had to take him out so he doesn't show up. All the cops are there because they know Connors was the Lizard. But...who knows. Could also be for Stacy as he could die from the falling debris of the final tower fight and Gwen thinks Peter inadvertently caused it so he doesn't show up. We'll see.

Now that I think about it, there seems to be a lot of death in this movie/series. Peters parents, uncle Ben, capt stacey, and doc Connors + gwen could die, we don't really know yet.

The coat adds a lot, in my opinion.

From what I can remember, a lot of the talk about Connors being a good man turned evil came from Rhys Ifans during the comic con panel, probably some interviews and the untold event. (though he appears somewhat desperate and bitter about his predicament. There was a clip from the sizzle reel in which he compared his research and yearning to regrow his arm to the helpless, degenerative state of a Parkinson's disease patient).

Also add to the fact that his wife and son will make an appearance and you've got a flawed human being with a family, trying to regain a missing part of himself but losing himself in the process.
