The Amazing Spider-Man Lizard's New Look: Verdict?--POLL

What did you think of his appearance?

  • PERFECT! It's the character come to life!

  • THAT'S the Lizard?! Mini-godzilla without the coat?

  • Can't tell yet. He wasn't in the trailer enough.

  • Where's Venom?!

  • It seems ok.

It's pretty difficult to make loose clothing (ie. capes, dresses, lab coats, etc.) look realistic in CGI. Plus, wearing clothes when transforming into a monster is so cliche. Let's think about the Lizard... he's an animal and he knows it, why would he want to wear extra-constricting clothing? Does he go to the lab and find a coat that's three sizes larger? And I'm talking a not-Hulk-sized Lizard... even if he stayed the same height, he'd need a much bigger jacket. And doesn't the jacket emphasize his humanity, which is what some of you want to have less of in regards to his aesthetic? Also consider the artists who created the look; I'm sure they'd much rather create skillfully-intricate arms, etc. than a dull, white jacket which would cover up at least fifty percent of him.

This.

Well the Lizard looks pretty cheesy to begin with... so there's really no way around it. I like the look of this movie so I'm sure I wont be bothered even if the CGI looks "fake" at times.

Rhys Ifans was one of the best things in the new trailer IMO. We didn't see much of his acting but what we got to see was really good! However, the thing that really made him feel right for the role in the trailer was for me his voice and the way he talks!
Agreed. He was fantastic!

All the toys and stuff that we've seen have him with human looking eyes , I wonder what happens when his eyes turn lizard like .........like in the trailer

Can he wear pants though? Just to keep his nether regions from getting cold?

He doesn't even have genitalia, and if he did, the cooler the better when producing his tiny tadpoles!

Maybe thats part of the "turn NYC into Lizards" plan

Nah, I doubt it. A woman is bad enough, a lizard woman would be the death of us all.

Honestly, the only thing I gripe about with Lizard is his size and muscle. When I think Lizard, the first thing that pops into my head isn't a Hulkish sized monster with a body-builder physique. I think a somewhat muscular beast that is big but small enough to to fast deadly.

Haha, thanks! I do understand the pickiness of fanboys as I am one, but some things just aren't necessary, possible or beneficial. It's probably the most consistent issue fans complain about; characters not looking exactly like their comic book counterparts, and 99% of the time it's impossible. I'm pretty lenient with interpretation, though - hell! I'd probably say I'm a fan of adaptation. I enjoy seeing the things I love being reinvented. As far as the Lizard goes, though, I'd say we should be happy he's as close to the comic version as he is. I'm sure I need not remind everyone of film-Green Goblin... :o

And you also have to look at this....reptiles are cold-blooded, aren't they? Why WOULD he keep any clothing on?

Yep, though some would argue you that real logic doesn't apply to films based off of comic books. Oh, those people. :o

Lol, this is very true. But, those fans should also realize that Webb may want to take in that "hyper-realism" elements from BB and TDK. Even if every single thing isn't to the T, certain and necessary liberties are taken, so I definitely think it's perfectly logical for Lizard, being cold-blooded, shouldn't even have clothing in this film.
