The Amazing Spider-Man Lizard's New Look: Verdict?--POLL

What did you think of his appearance?

  • PERFECT! It's the character come to life!

  • THAT'S the Lizard?! Mini-godzilla without the coat?

  • Can't tell yet. He wasn't in the trailer enough.

  • Where's Venom?!

  • It seems ok.

No, it looks good in the context of the film if you can get past the fact that Cap's costume, as originally designed, is ridiculous looking. Dressing up like a flag is almost impossible to look cool.

Well it worked better in CATFA.

But standing next to Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, etc. it works well enough.

I can agree with this. That's why I have never been keen on the concepot of a multi-superhero movies. Sooner or later it'll look like a costume party or a cosplay reunion.

Compared to how crappy Spidey's costume looks in this movie, much less how horrible the Lizard looks, it actually works quite well.

Speaking as one of the fierciest enemies of the new suit I have to say that it looked quite good in the trailer (don't know about the whole movie). No, Spiderman doesn't look ridiculosuly big-headed as the new Capt. America does.

If actors don't want the part if it hides their face, then let them get a minimum wage job where they can show there face the whole time.

Well this lizard is cgi so Rhys can ring me up a burger and fries.

Exactly. They can make it...kind of work on screen. Though nobody will ever attempt the wings on the head...at least I hope not.

Well it's hurt their solo films (at least CATFA and IM2, anyway), but it looks like a nifty novelty in The Avengers. I don't know if it still will in Avengers 3...

I disagree. The Spidey costume is an eye sore. Especially the pants and boots. It just looks awkward. I honestly think Garfield will be a better Spidey (not sure about Peter, yet) than Maguire...but that doesn't mean the costume looks good. And the Lizard is such a letdown after waiting to see him on the screen for ten years.

Has anyone referred to the new Lizard design as LINO yet? :o

Still not sure how captain America will look with his helmet in the movie, but Spider-Man looks fine.

This is actually something that had been bugging me the closer we creep to summer. I've been thinking how, solo, these guys look fantastic in their respective films. But together ensemble, I can't help but see how this movie's Cap, Black Widow, and Hawkeye painfully stick out from Thor and Iron Man. Hulk I can go either way on, since he's just all CGI. I already had issue with Cap being "too young" compared to Stark and Thor, but he looks the most...out-of-place more than any of them.

Err, anyway, the Lizard look. Ya know, making him uber-burly and taking away the clothes I won't b*&^% about, but yeah, I am starting to hate the face. But honestly, the only clear face I've seen? The merchandise. Stock images. I don't think I've seen a quality, still image from the movie preview that focus on the head.

The only reason it don't bug me is because it's obviously Ditko-era.

I just realized something, looking at VenomSpawn's avy. How the hell does that big-ass Lizard fit through a manhole opening?!

It's a toilet. It's the scene from the San Diego Comic Con.

"The big reveal, though, came with a final scene that started with two girls in a bathroom, talking about one of their recent breakups. Behind them, a toilet starts to bubble and then the floor around it begins to crack. An enormous hand emerges from the hole and we see the lizard for the first time in full. Apparently entirely CGI, the character goes back to the original Ditko look, though the character's body is much more muscular. He also, as is revealed in a shot where he sniffs the terrified girls, has a gigantic tongue."

Seriously? A toilet? Ok then, how does THAT thing fit through a toilet?

Err, I should have read your whole post.

:wow: First time I heard about this.

To be honest, Cap (616 anyway) fighting with the Avengers has always annoyed me. Much the same way it annoys me when I see Batman fighting in the field with the JLA. If there is a villain or group of villains powerful enough to demand the entire force comes out, then Cap and Batman would be useless in the field. Tactically, yeah, they'd help. But against superhumans that could go toe to toe with the likes of Superman or the Hulk, then Batman and Cap aren't going to be able to do crap against them, and they would in effect just be in the way.

Anyways, I'm still not super excited about the face of the Lizard, but overall I really like the mass and imposing nature about him.

In the end, the JL and the Av are just an all-star ensemble of their respective companies best or most marketable characters, or some such non-sense. You just have to go with it.

Well, the JLA is, but I wouldn't say Avengers is. Well...they ended up being like that once they included Wolverine and Spider-man. But originally, Avengers wasn't a group of the most popular Marvel characters.

But yeah, it's just one of those, suspend your disbelief kind of things, but it did always bug me.

Only thing that ever bugs me is that Cap has had just as many Batman moments, but never gets called out on them like Batman does. CapGod is in the same boat as BatGod.

And I do like Cap. Its hard to tell, ain't it?

It's because Cap isn't as popular as Bats is. Bats is one of the "Big Three" in comics, (Spidey, Bats, and Superman). But I always get annoyed when I see those kinds of things. Like cap using Judo on the Hulk. Which is frankly ridiculous, or Batman's "prep time."

Am I the only one that thinks the lizard looks like the monster from an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Apart from some differences in the face I think they match quite well.

Not having the coat is a bit disappointing, but as far as the look of the Lizard, I think it's great. The whole snout thing doesn't bother me that much. It is a nice nod back to the way he looked when he first came on the scene in the comics.

Hopefully this film delivers.

I had my girlfriend watch the newest ASM trailer. She asked me if the villain was "that alligator guy."

I'm guessing she thought Killer Croc or something.

Why? Cap's costume is pretty corny, but all the characters in the Super Bowl spot look good in the context of the film.
Cap America's suit is corny from the start, no matter how U put it and now matter what theyd do with it, there aint much that U can actually DO with it, since the original sucks anyway. In fact he isn't even one of the most interesting/best heroes out there, maybe it's because Im not a suporter of the whole nationalism/patriotism bull, but then again, he doesn't really have any interesting powers (like Spidery for example), nor such a great background.

It's pretty lame imo as well. The superheroes work well in their independent movies, hence why Im not a huge fan of this whole Avengers movie concept, although action-wise and visual-wise it will most certainly be fun.

As for Lizzy's looks, I wait 4 the movie, to be honest Im not bothered by it so far, nor by the fact that his lab coat is absent.

Ya i hate it... He doesn't have the iconic 80s/90s look that most of us grew up with. It almost seems like they pulled another venom on us. Just does NOT look like their iconic selves. :(
